We started 30+ years ago selling in a local craft show in the city that we lived in and then ventured off into craft malls from 1992 to the present. At one time we were in 50+ different craft malls all over the USA. Our sales were declining in craft malls and with the shipping cost to get our product to the malls it wasn't worth the cost anymore During this transition of getting out of craft malls we had a website design for our Business - Nannie and B's Crafts. In November of 2015 it will be 6 years since we started selling on the Web. It's been a learn as you go along experience. From not knowing much about selling on the web to learning a lot. Somethings have worked well and others not so well. You have to learn to adjust and make changes, keep up with the trends and be flexible. In November 2012, my current work boss at the time, suggested that we try Etsy and/ or EBAY to grow our business.... He told me we would do great on either site. I didn't have a clue what Etsy was for I had never heard of them. EBAY I had heard only negative things . I worried how will people find our product, because there are so many talent people, millions of products on each site to view. I was afraid we would get lost among everything. My momma always says...Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained....We took a great leap of faith and opened a store with both places not knowing really what to expect. Surprising people have found us and it's been a great experience so far. Way beyond anything we could have dreamed or imagined. On Etsy...We sell a lot of Teacher Gifts, Inspirational, Patriotic and Primitive Blocks. We have created these items from raw pieces of wood (plywood, white pine, birch - to name a few types of wood) We have a 576 square foot Workroom that we work out of to create our product from start to finish. We are only a 2 person shop...My Dad cut out all our wood until he suddenly passed away on Sept 22nd, 2014. Since our father has passed away my twin Brother, Randy is helping us with cutting the wood when he is not working at his A/C and Heating Business. My Mom prepares the items by base painting the item and I write and/or paint and then My mom puts the finishing touches, like bows, wire, etc. We have our hands full with orders not only on Etsy, but with EBAY, our own business website, and several other sites as well. Since my Father Passed away we are not taking on any Custom or Special Order requests on any site that we sell items on. Thank you for understanding. Female, Born on April 15 |
