VR1's Profile

Bio
A Kansas artist - turned book maker.

My preferred art medium is watercolor, although I have also worked in the drawing mediums such as graphite pencil, pen & ink, and colored pencil. When I began exploring making small artist books, it was natural to make my own illustrations for the books. All the calligraphy is also done my me.

ABOUT MY BOOKS: My books are from concept to finished produce all my own creation. After designing the book, making the illustrations and lettering the text, the content is scanned and printed out on selected papers, and assembled by hand with great care. These books are not mass-produced but made one at a time. It is my desire that they will be a delight to hold and look at, and that the scripture books will also be a praise to God and lift the soul.

QUALITY MATERIALS: I use fine-art lightfast drawing papers, beautiful acid-free handmade mulberry papers, and 100% cotton print papers for the construction of the books - even the paste I use is archival and acid-free. These materials ensure that the finished piece will have a long life and that the papers will not yellow or turn brittle over time. As added protection, all papers are given a three coats of a UV/moisture protection spray. With gentle care, these books will last a lifetime.
