| Welcome to SouthPaw Art My leather shop on Handmade Artists. Here I have for sale some handmade and tooled leather goods(i.e. coin pouches, checkbook covers, wallets, hair barrettes, etc). I have been working at leather for several years. That does not mean the learning is over, Each new day there is something to new to learn. Each handmade product has many hours of work in it, even the smallest thing can take hours to finish. I start with a nice piece of veg tan leather, transfer the design to it and after getting the right amount of moisture in the leather it is ready to be cut and tooled. In some cases this is not just a one time thing. After the hours of tooling, the blocking and dye can be applied, but I'm far from a finished product. It may need hand made inner pockets or slots for the lacing punched through. If it has to be laced, there will still be several hours of lacing to go.
