ShaZazzGlass's Profile
Bio |
Artistic creation has always been an important ingredient in my life. I have pursued a variety of artistic adventures, all of which required a love of color, form ,and design. I was able to set up my lampworking studio in October of 2007. My beads are properly annealed in a digitally controlled kiln built by Michael Crowley of The Glass Hive, and cleaned with a diamond tip dremel bit. The torch I currently use is the Carlisle Mini CC. Learning to create glass beads has been THE most interesting things I've done. I had always admired the beads they called lampwork, and wanted to know how to make them, so I started doing research. LOTS of research! After determining the equipment and supplies needed, (wanting what I wanted but getting what I could afford), how to get the propane piped in and the air above the torch sucked out, and a hundred other things, it has been a learning experience ever since. I am self taught with the exception of a day spent with Corrina Tettinger who is the author of Passing the Flame. I had SUCH a good time while there. She and her roomate were most gracious and I still have my first attempt at making a few beads hanging by my torch to remind me how far I've come. Since then I have, and continue to learn every time I sit down at the torch. It is my wish that my beads may find a home where they can last several lifetimes when given proper care. I like the idea of someone wearing my beads and loving them as much as I do making them. I currently live in Chimacum, Washington with my very spoiled little doggie, Baily. The Pacific Northwest is some of the most beautiful country I think you can find. The area I am in is about 8 miles south of Port Townsend which is home to many superb artists.
