MJMH2O's Profile

Bio
A native of Columbiana, Alabama, Michael Joe Moore attended the University of Montevallo and University of Alabama on scholastic scholarships, gradulating and receiving his B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering in 1976. Moore's watercolors reflect his passion for both molten metal and history. His watercolors of foundry scenes have been collected by customers here in the USA, Canada and Europe. In January of 2007 he had three of his foundry scenes published in the foundry trade magazine, "Modern Casting". Also in 2008 and again in 2009 Ashland Chemical Company chose one of his foundry watercolors to appear on the front of their "Foundry Solutions" calendar. He also had one of his Statesville NC watercolors to appear on the cover of Sandra Douglas Campbell's book "Iredell County A Brief History". Recently he has focused on local history and landmarks of Statesville NC and other small towns in North Carolina. He also enjoys doing what he calls "house portraits" of various homes in the historical districts of these towns. Moore is almost completely self taught and only started doing watercolors four years ago. He worked in oils for years but now prefers watercolors and says that the paintings he does with them come more freely than they ever did in oils. He prefers to take his own photos and work from them in his studio. Moore has a passion for small towns and is doing work in several small towns in both North Carolina and Alabama but his largest body of work is centered in Statesville NC and can be seen a GG'S In downtown Statesville. He is also doing watercolors of more of the best known buildings at both the University of Alabama and the University of Auburn. Moore also does watercolors by commission, just email him at: michael_joe_moore@yahoo.com
