These puppets are not very difficult to knit, and will give you plenty of practice with simple short rows! The basic design is the same for all four: cow, horse, pig, and sheep. The differences are in the colors and the extras.

You'll need a fairly heavy worsted weight yarn and a machine that can knit it at about 4.25 sts and 5.7 rows per inch. (Exact gauge isn't too important.)

PLEASE NOTE -- some crochet skills are required to make various "body parts", which are then sewn to the puppet body.

You can use a ribber, but it's very easy to latch up the narrow ribs manually. You'll want some claw weights on hand, too.
