These handmade sterling silver cuff links feature a bronze sun soldered to a sterling silver disc with rays of light represented by the chased design and ankh symbols stamped in the center of each sun which represent the key to life or eternal life in Egyptian hieroglyphics.

To construct these cuff links, I sawed two discs measuring 18mm (0.7in) in diameter from 18 gauge sterling silver using a jewelry saw and sawed the inner 9mm discs from 20 gauge bronze. I soldered the bronze discs to the sterling silver discs using silver solder and an acetylene torch, chased the radiating line with a hammer and fine chisel, and stamped the ankhs in the center of each bronze disc. The curvature which adds depth and dimension to these cuff links while also producing natural highlights and shadows from light reflecting off the curved surface, was created by hammering the discs on a dabbing block. The finished discs were soldered to pure bronze links to form a bond that will outlast traditional glued and plated cuff links and will last a life time. I applied a pewter black patina to the sterling silver disc and the ankh symbol making sure that the patina filled and darken all the grooves for contrast. The metal surfaces were finished with a high speed silicon buffing wheel to bring out a radiant satin shine in both the sterling silver and bronze.
