Combining handmade with the blues of sapphire, this hammered sterling silver ring was sawed by hand with a jewelry saw to artistically capture the colors of a blue sky and ocean on a summer's day at the beach. The ring can be worn for intrigue and conversation at a local bar or given as an engagement ring.

The ring was sawed as a flat band measuring 2 mm from a sheet of thick 1.25mm 16 gauge sterling silver and was shaped into a perfect ring shape over a steel mandrel with a nylon mallet. Using an acetylene torch and sterling silver solder, the seam was soldered together and polished until practically invisible. While on the steel mandrel, the ring was hammered to produce that rippled texture that casts a radiant sparkle in the light before soldering the stone setting to the ring. Finally, I placed a AA 4 mm genuine sapphire in the stone setting to incorporate the rich blue tones into the design.

As shown, this ring is a size 4, but can be easily ordered in any size by entering your sizing requests in the Paypal notes or sending me a text at 914.837.1392 with your details. It is also possible to stamp a name or date on the inside of the ring.

While this ring was actually never intended for sale, my hubby noticed me wearing a new ring while on vacation and love it so much, that he requested that it become part of my ring collection. The design inspiration came from a day at the beach, where I was surrounded by blue water and sky on a rather windy day and silvery white foam was blowing up onto the beach. Later that night, I made the ring with rather limited tools and materials that I had taken with me on the vacation. We absolutely love that this is a handmade ring and uses absolutely no casting or fancy shop tools.
