This is a unique sterling silver pendant meticulously hand crafted to capture the shape of the Galaxy M74 with a 4mm red coral stone representing the star central nucleus. Besides being the most photogenic spiral galaxy due to its gorgeous face-on view, M74 is special to me since it is visible by the naked eye on clear winter's nights in the black skies of my home state of New Mexico. The highlights result from over 100 billion stars in the brighter of the two arms along with a mysterious black hole equivalent to 20,000 times the size of our sun. My design is representative of the galaxy as seen with an ordinary telescope over Taos, New Mexico, therefor I only cut the one prominent spiral arm.

The spiral, measuring about 1.25 inches in diameter, was sawed by hand from 18 gauge sterling silver and and hangs on a genuine black leather cord with slip knots for adjusting the fit.
