Now and then I have a fabric that is so gorgeous I'd rather not apply my 3 book maximum on - this is one of them! Sadly, I can't, this is the third and final time these beautiful butterflies will be on one of my handbound books - it is now retired.

Inside this 5" x 8" art journal I have bound 72 pages (front & back, 36 if you only use one side) of Strathmore 400 Series 130# watercolor paper which is is acid free and buffered to neutralize acid compounds absorbed from the atmosphere or formed through natural aging. It's also a nice weight for altered art projects too! I have longstitched the pages with cobalt blue handwaxed cotton thread and the exposed threads on the spine have been embellished with tiny pale yellow, red and orange randomly spaced glass beads. I've made the spine extra wide to accomodate a little page warping due to watercolors or the addition of photos, ephemera etc. The endpapers are pretty handmade (not by me) tie-dyed royal blue papers.
