PerazaBeads's Profile

Bio
My name is Marilyn Peraza, glass art bead maker/jewelry designer and instructor. I have been creating jewelry since a very young age. My designs, throughout the years, have evolved into a medley of techniques including wire wrapping, silversmith, micro-macrame, beading, and steampunk style. I learned the art of creating my own handmade glass art beads, a/k/a lampworked beads, in 1999, and have become addicted to manipulating the molten glass into bead designs.

Often times I incorporate several techniques into one piece of jewelry. While I use a variety of materials in my designs, my style is fairly consistent. My love for the romantic Victorian era always seems to come through - whether it is within the design itself, or in the components I use. I like to use gold, silver, copper, and other precious metals together with semi-precious stones to enhance my one-of-a-kind beads.

My inspiration comes from my garden, Victorian treasures, vintage porcelain, and dreams. Although I may have a design in mind when I sit to make a bead, piece of jewelry, or clothing accessory, I usually allow my muse to take over during the process.

As it turns out, I also have a knack for creating clothing, bags and belts with a very romantic, but modern feel. I’ll be introducing my clothing designs in late Spring/early Summer. If you love feeling feminine and beautiful, but want to wear the most up to date designs, check back often. (Pieces will be limited since they are all created in the same method as my jewelry designs – one-at-a-time, each being a one-of-a-kind wearable work of art).
