Bio

My name is Marilyn Peraza, glass art bead maker/jewelry designer and instructor. I have been creating jewelry since a very young age. My designs, throughout the years, have evolved into a medley of techniques including wire wrapping, silversmith, micro-macrame, beading, and steampunk style. I learned the art of creating my own handmade glass art beads, a/k/a lampworked beads, in 1999, and have become addicted to manipulating the molten glass into bead designs. Often times I incorporate several techniques into one piece of jewelry. While I use a variety of materials in my designs, my style is fairly consistent. My love for the romantic Victorian era always seems to come through - whether it is within the design itself, or in the components I use. I like to use gold, silver, copper, and other precious metals together with semi-precious stones to enhance my one-of-a-kind beads. My inspiration comes from my garden, Victorian treasures, vintage porcelain, and dreams. Although I may have a design in mind when I sit to make a bead, piece of jewelry, or clothing accessory, I usually allow my muse to take over during the process. As it turns out, I also have a knack for creating clothing, bags and belts with a very romantic, but modern feel. I’ll be introducing my clothing designs in late Spring/early Summer.
