FaerieNursery's Profile

Bio
Emmanuelle has spent over fifteen years living on and off again above the Arctic Circle of Canada's North. She and her husband, Larry, currently make their home in Fort Smith, where she is the creative driving force and chief guardian of the Enchanted Pathways Faerie Nursery workshop.

The faeries first touched Emmanuelle's spirit more than twenty years ago when she began cross- stitching faerie images for her daughter. These examples of artistic expression still hang on the walls of her home today as a daily reminder to the importance of always believing in your dreams and never growing up. As well, she collects children’s books, handmade faerie cloth dolls (which she hopes to make her own one day), bits of ribbon, rocks and pretty well anything sparkly.

As a child growing up with Tinker Bell* and Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother*, she believed that there was a lot more to the wee folk than just what the movies and books tell you. She is also a firm believer that it is actually a little Asrai (aquatic faerie) that steals your sock in the dryer because she got tossed in from the washing machine where she loves to spin around in the sudsy water. It is also her way of telling you to be more careful when you do your laundry!

The Enchanted Pathways Faerie Nursery may not have come about were it not for Emmanuelle's work in a flower shop several years ago. It was through this experience that she has found a way to blend her love of flowers with her artistic love of the faeries.

With her husband’s vast knowledge of the Tuatha De Danann, the Sidhes and other legends of lore, Emmanuelle’s take on the world of Fae has grown dramatically. She is especially taken with the female spirits of the trees, named Dryads, as they are quite shy – just like some of the faeries found in the nursery. In taking this traditional and mischievous approach of the faeries from Europe and blending it with her own creativity, Emmanuelle has nurtured a unique faerie style that is quickly gaining attention in the North and beyond.

Emmanuelle encourages other believers and lovers of all things Fae to visit the Enchanted Pathways Faerie Nursery to play; where there is always cookies and apple juice served to guests amongst the bed of rainbow flower petals. And for those that visit during the North’s long winter, the nursery is kept toasty by the stove, everyone gets their own pair of slippers and the apple juice is served warm with cinnamon sticks.
