BeadedCreations's Profile

Bio
A little about me: I was born and raised in Campbell River, BC and I am the oldest of seven children. In my youth I was constantly testing my creativity and entrepreneurial desire - starting with lemonade and cookie stands, then crushing rocks and trying to convince people that they were precious gems and very magical (I was six), to drawing pictures, creating dried floral pieces, exploring the world of beads and dabbling in graphic arts as a teenager. In my late teens I turned to the Sciences and focused on learning about the Digestive System and killer T-cells, then went on to get a Diploma in Environmental Technology. My desire for art continued to play a factor behind the scenes. I always seemed to be making and learning something new - with my abundant family members receiving the fruits of my labour as gifts (how many different types of candle holders can you give your Grandma?).

I discovered wire art in 2006 and began teaching myself how to wrap and manipulate wire. Creating unique and elegant pieces of jewellery became a passion for me, and that combined with my love of beads prompted me to start my business, Beaded Creations, in 2007. So far the journey has been incredibly exciting. The first couple of years were spent in a whirlwind of Craft Fairs and Markets. The last few years I have been moving away from doing shows and focusing more on developing an online component to my business and custom designs.

Using a variety of semi-precious stones, handmade lampwork beads and an assortment of accents, I aim to create high-quality, hand-wrapped designs that are refreshing and distinctive. I spend a great deal of time finding the right elements for each of my pieces and my Lampwork beads I buy from a variety of talented glass artists throughout North America. I recently fulfilled a long-time dream of making my own beads, and have set up a small studio to begin learning this wonderful craft. I hope to begin using my own beads in my designs later this year. As well as beautiful jewellery, I offer a whimsical selection of copper suncatchers, colourful embellishments and home decor pieces.
