Wall Hanging - Old World Map - Fish Gap Rustics - This piece is made from a slice of cherry burl. It made me think of an old world map, hence the name. The burl is a unique piece that can never be exactly duplicated. This is quite a large burl for this area. It has a lot of movement and vibrancy, due to the growth pattern of swirls and eddies. The burl, which is a natural, if infrequent, growth on cherries and maples in this area, is mounted approximately 1" above the fabric background. The mounting gives the piece depth and shadow. The fabric background is red faux suede. The frame is painted to match the background. 21 3/4" x 25 1/2"
