Dogwood Forest - Wall Hanging - Home Decor. This piece is made from slices of a dogwood tree, then arraigned as an imaginary forest. There are many colors and prominent figure in the slices. Each slice is an individual. The slices are mounted approximately 1" above the background. The mounting gives the piece depth and shadow. The background fabric is brown and has a pattern and sheen that almost has it in motion as you move. The frame is natural to match the wood. There is quite a bit of work in preparing the slices for this piece. First the log needs to be cut into boards, then each board is stacked and stickered (with a space between each board to dry, for a number of years), then it is planed and sanded smooth, on both sides, sprayed with sanding sealer, sanded again and finally sprayed two coats with a finish. 38 5/8" x 24 3/8"
