This butterfly ring was made entirely by hand from sterling silver and copper features an eye catching genuine dark blue Lapis Lazuli stone. I started creating the flower on which the butterfly is perched by sawing the flower form from a flat 18 gauge copper sheet and chasing grooves to form the leaf veins. The butterfly shape was then sawed from flat 18 gauge sterling silver, four pilot holes were punched in each of the four wings, and I fed my fine jewelry saw blade through the pilot holes and cut out the inner wing forms. I dapped shaped the butterfly on steel dapping block to create the curved shape which brings this butterfly to life in three dimensions.

The ring shank was made from 16 gauge sterling silver, measured, cut and formed with a pliers into a roundish shape so that the ends of the wire align and can be welded together with an acetylene torch. The perfect ring form is made by placing the soldered ring shank over a steel mandrel and hammering into a round ring. The final magic is made by soldering a 3mm genuine Lapis Lazuli stone with custom setting, the ring shank, flower form, and butterfly form together to create this ring this amazing ring. The rough edges are hand filed, fire scale removed by polishing, and a subtle patina was applied to the flower to add contrast. Finally I gently polished the ring to perfection to perfection with a silicon buffing wheel for a copper and silver glow.

The ring is a size 8 and can be ordered to any size you wish.
