Southwestern sterling silver earrings with brushed patina and jades and flowers

These southwestern sterling silver earrings were handmade in the with spirit of the landscape in my home state of New Mexico as represented by the green jade for the alpine forests, the silver flower for flowers of the grasslands, and the brushed patina for the windswept rocky deserts. The backing plate was sawed by hand from 18 gauge sterling silver using a jewelry saw. I soldered a cast sterling silver flower and a stone setting to the center of both plates and bathed the pieces in a warm liver of sulphur bath to create the dark shadows, highlights, and gray colors that I later brushed for the windswept finish. Of all the patinas that I have tested, the liver of sulphur produces the richest grays that do not erode and degrade with time. Finally, I set the jade stone in the stone setting and polished the patina treated surface with a series of brushes for that windswept appearance that ties these earrings together.
The earrings measure approx 1 1/3 inches long and the ear wires are hypoallergenic.
