Seahorse pendant handmade from sterling silver
This seahorse pendant was sawed by hand with a jewelry saw from a flat sheet of 18 gauge sterling silver and I used a pierce and cut technique to create the intricate detail work. After sawing the general seahorse shape, I punched a series of small holes in the interior portions of the design. Through these pilot holes, I fed a jewelry blade and sawed out the fins, eyes, and two cut outs along the body. All edges were smoothed and rounded with a hand file and the surface was finished with a wire brush for a satin burnish, however you may request this seahorse in a mirror finish or shiny tumbled polish. The seahorse measures about 1.75 inches long and comes with your choice of a vegan friendly imitation leather cord, black genuine leather cord with slip knots, or colored leather cord. To lengthen or shorten the leather cord, simply pull the knots farther apart or pull them closer together. I also have fine silver chains available upon special request.
Seahorses are absolutely fascinating animals and I would be happy to create custom seahorse pendants and dangle earrings in copper, bronze, aluminum or sterling silver. If you ever observed a seahorse in an aquarium or in natural waters, you would notice that they have rounded bead like eyes that move independently like some types of lizards and reptiles. Little black onyx stones for eyes would be a perfect addition to your piece. Don't hesitate to contact me regarding a custom order or for any questions about this piece. I look forward to hearing from you. Our shop phone is 914.837.1392
