This original polymer clay painting from a scene in the movie The Color Purple titles “Miss Celie’s blues” was handmade by Beverley Start.

I’ve titled this piece “Miss Celie’s Blues” after one of the songs played in this scene. I took a computer snap shot of the moment I wanted to capture and then I tinkered with it in a photo program to make dark areas lighter… bump up the colors I want, etc. My rendition from polymer clay is made by color matching and then strategically fitting together the sections of clay and laying them carefully on a sheet of glass. Once baked, the clay painting is carefully peeled off the glass and ready to be signed and framed. Miss Celie’s Blues comes with a peek-a-boo tabletop frame (pictures show front and back) which I think shows off both sides of the piece ideally. Measuring 7" x 3 1/2" (8 ¾” X 6 ¾” in frame), it’s perfect for any room or office.
