Alone in a field and cast in shadow at sun down, this handmade sterling silver medallion takes full advantage of a shadow box technique and fine artistic details cut by hand using a jewelry saw to produce the shadow image of a tree in the last rays of daylight. Emphasising the trunk and leaves to capture as much detail as possible in 2 dimensions, the tree was preciously sawed from a 20 gauge 1 ¼ inch overlay disc and then joined with sterling silver solder to a 20 gauge backing disc. Brushed into the tree cut out, my heat controlled custom patina brings out the flow of the woody trunk, produces the shadow effect while adding dimension, and enhances the design with rich grey shading. To complete this tree medallion, the upper disc was brushed to remove any stray patina and reveal a radiant silver shine with varied texture.

Measuring 1.25 inches (32mm) in diameter, the tree medallion hangs perfectly from a high quality stainless steel ball chain, however upon request, you can also select a black leather cord tied in a southwestern style with slip knots.
