Handmade from 18 gauge sterling silver, this three dimensional flower ring was constructed by first hand sawing the outer and inner flower patterns from a sterling silver sheet then hammering the two flower shapes on a dabbing block to produce curved petals. Dapping and doming gives the ring depth, adds realism, and creates natural highlights and shadows when light strikes the surface. The sterling silver wire ring shank and inner and outer flower petals were then soldered together with an acetylene torch. I treated the ring with a sulfide based patina in order to oxidize the sterling silver and create the dark shades of gray. Hand polishing using varying pressures created accents and shades within the dark patina. Finally, a 4mm genuine blue lapis lazuli stone was set in the center whorl as focal point to make this piece truly stand out.

The ring as shown is a size 6 and the diameter is between 3/4 to 1 inch.
