Shaped and formed with extra love, this concave bronze bracelet shines with copper hearts and brilliant reflections of light from the anticlastic surface. 17 gauge copper hearts were soldered to a 1.25 inch wide 18 gauge flat bronze band and before pressing into contained neoprene with an anticlastic mushroom die on a hydraulic press to produce the concave shape. The pressing was repeated at ½ inch intervals with the bracelet shaping controlled by the amount of downward force combined with upward pressure from my thumbs on the bronze band. Adding to the challenge of forming the bracelet, the copper hearts stiffen the bronze band, thereby requiring more force and careful manoeuvring with my fingers to create a perfect bracelet arc. After forming the bracelet, the end tabs and edges were rounded and filed for a comfortable fit. To remove the fire scale and surface scratches, the finished bracelet is buffed by hand using a series of polishing cloths and then tumbled for about 5 days in fine walnut shell to create that near mirror finish.
