General Discussion / Re: Etsy going public
« on: May 15, 2015, 10:01:33 AM »
Already a class-action lawsuit against them by the stockholders...karma is a b!tch.
"The Complaint alleges that throughout the Class Period, defendants made materially false and misleading statements, and omitted materially adverse facts, about the Company's business, operations and prospects. Specifically, the Complaint alleges that the defendants concealed from the investing public that: (1) more than 5% of all merchandise for sale on Etsy's website may be either counterfeit or constitute trademark or copyright infringement; (2) brands are increasingly pursuing sellers on Etsy for trademark or copyright infringement, jeopardizing the Company's listing fees and commissions; and (3) as a result of the foregoing, the Company's public statements were materially false and misleading at all relevant times. As a result of defendants' alleged false and misleading statements, the Company's stock traded at artificially inflated prices during the Class Period."

Is it really egomaniacal if looking at one of my own paintings makes me smile?  Every time I look at the elephant painting or even a photo of it, I get a grin.
Absolutely NOT!

What a pretty garden fairy, Sandi! So glad the snow is gone for you.

Kimberly, you two have some special guys there, what a beautiful thing to do for Mother's Day!

Larissa, I have nothing in the way of beekeeping gear...yet! It was hot here too (90 degrees) but it's tanking fast, now - the cool weather might be headed your way.

Welcome, Clemmie!

Holy crap, Sandi! I thought we had lousy weather in NE Ohio  :o

Larissa, your posts wear me out! I'm not sure if I know a busier person!! I love reading about how well your bees are doing! I'm saving my pennies for a couple of flow-hives to take to Bee-lize.  :D

Welcome back and save some room for us in Belize since we definitely want to come back again at some point!!

Got the appliances in and working so I was doing the happy dance and actually, for now anyways, looking forward to doing laundry!  I'm sure that won't last though.

Got my workout in this morning and Nathaniel is home sick, so I will just play the rest of the day by ear.  Got a couple special order invitations so I need to go get them matted at some point soon.

Also, have a number of ladies coming over Friday to make bracelets so I have to hit the store for some snacks and goodies as well as get rings made and the house cleaned up.  Other than that, enjoying sunshine, working in the yard and loving life!

You guys will always have a place to stay - we'll go on some super adventures!

New appliances always make crappy chores more enjoyable...at least the first several times using them. Hope that younin' feels better soon.

Congrats to you both, Sandi & Monika! I love custom orders! Monika, the cruise sounds fabulous!

I'm pretty much done collecting books for the library, thanks for the offers - if I keep collecting I won't have any room for my household goods in the shipping container! Lots of folks down there are super excited to get their noses in them.

Kimberly, he does clean up nicely! Getting to be so grown up... where does the time go?!?

PS Everything is back to normal in my shop, I guess my items took a little unannounced vacation

Andrea - the house is gorgeous!  And, yes, I only see one item in your shop here.

Thank you, Sandi! And poo, I wonder what's up?

Howdy all! Again I've been missing in action, this time I won't bother saying that I'll do better about checking in...at least not until we get moved, whenever THAT may be, we can't go until the house sells but I'm crazy busy organizing, packing what I can, tossing, donating, selling...blah blah blah :(
On a much neater note, our house is finished in Belize, we spent the month of January down there and I must say, I completely look forward to spending my winters in shorts and flip flops until I kick the bucket. I have photos of the house building on Facebook, here is the link - it is set to public so anyone can visit - just thought it was better than trying to upload them on here.

While we were down in January I had asked a girlfriend of mine if she took her kids to the library in town (what else would a book nerd be concerned with??) and she told me that her daughter always wants to go but she has to tell her that "there's nothing in there for you" - I was shocked and saddened...seems the tiny library has predominantly reference books for students. I asked around a bit more and always heard the same thing: there is nowhere to get books for pleasure in this town, books are like gold and treasured. I vowed then that I'd see to it that changed. I've been having a book drive since returning to the US and in 3 months I've gotten 2,000 books donated! I'll be able to ship them with our household goods duty-free! I've partnered with a friend that has some climate controlled commercial space and he has offered a unit for the lending library, we will generate funds to keep it running by including an art gallery for Belizean artists to put their work in there on commission - super exciting stuff!!
I've missed y'all and I have tried to pop in to check up on the goings-on. One day I'll be back in full force again...just not sure as to when that will be. Praying it's soon! XOX

PS Is it just me or do you see only one item in my shop (the one I just listed this morning) 40+ have gone missing...sorta like me, I suppose.

Glad that you enjoyed the game Kimberly & Andrew.  Great seats, Huh?  I hope that you enjoyed your girls weekend.  Those are so necessary occasionally.   I may have to find a way to do that myself very soon.  Wonder who would want to come along?

Make it close and I'll meet you wherever!!!  It was all in all a nice weekend but I was quite glad to be home again.  My mother is coming to visit so there is a lot to get ready around here plus I got an order for 50 bracelets so I will be sitting for a bunch of hours with pliers in hand this week.

Andrew and the boys are still working on the barn and this weekend, while I was away, they made me the prettiest work table I've ever seen!

Still needs some work to finish, but I'm so excited to have such a nice bench to work on!!

Oh my goodness! I love that work bench - I need about 4 or 5 of them, pleaseandthankyou  ;D

I meet up with friends that I went to high school in Germany with - I just got home yesterday. The house in the background is the one we rent on the outer banks every year, the love we shared thirty-something years ago has only gotten bigger!

Youuu hoooo! It's been forever since I've been around, I hope all is well with everyone - I've missed keeping tabs on all that's happening with you all and will do my best to read back and see what I've missed!
We went to Belize for 5 weeks, we weren't there 3 days before we just decided to call the builder we chose and take the leap to start building in spite of not having sold either house here in the USA, they made TONS of progress in just the time we were there and continue to do so. Exciting and nerve wracking! The architect did a terrific job and seemed to be inside my head when it came to my studio space...we're putting it on the roof of the house and is FULL of windows which leads to an enormous rooftop terrace.
Two days ago we sold a house! Thankfully it's not the one we are living in because we haven't purchased a shipping container for our household goods yet which would mean having to move into the old house - no bueno!
So, that's my condensed version of what's up - time to read back and see how everyone is making out- Miss y'all!
