Tinned copper and faux pearls. This pendant started out as a ring I made quite a few years ago. I recently decided to throw it out and was twisting it up and liked how it now looked and decided to keep it and make it into a pendant instead.

Sterling silver and copper wire-wrapped pendant. I'm not certain what kind of stone this is other than it's quartz and something (my brother thinks the green might be copper).

Sterling silver and copper wire-wrapped pendant. The stone is some kind of green jasper.

General Discussion / Attention chainmaillers!
« on: October 23, 2009, 12:17:25 PM »
Recently, some of the admins on MAIL caught a guy stealing content from the members over there. One of the admins decided to keep tabs on him in case he did so again, and he has.  Images have been stolen from members on MAIL, TRL, and MWW (Maillers World Wide). Here are some of the links about the recent problem:

http://corvuschainmaille.ning.com/forum/topics/is-this-you?id=2032108%3ATopic%3A14576&page=1#comments

http://www.mailleartisans.org/board/viewtopic.php?t=14476

http://www.mailleartisans.org/board/viewtopic.php?t=14453

As there are a lot of maillers over here I thought I should warn you of what has been going on in case any of your phototgraphs are among the recently stolen content.  All the relevant information about both of these incidents are in the above links.

Here is the link to the website with the stolen content:

I would advice checking it often for more stolen images he states he will be putting up more.

General Discussion / I got published!
« on: September 20, 2009, 01:59:50 PM »
There's a student publication called Fusion that comes out every year at the college I just graduated at (Delta College) in which the students in the Fusion class select what art pieces and creative writing pieces get published. Only work from that has been sent to that class by the professors is considered for publication and those whose work gets in are supposed to get a free copy of the publication..

Well, at the end of last semester I found out that my photography professor had sent one of prints from the final in her class to the Fusion class. It's been months since that class ended and I haven't heard a thing back regarding what got in and wdhat didn't. Being curious, I decided to do a search on the college website to see if I could find out anything about the publication. And low and behold....

I got published!!!

Not only did my
photography print get in, but I have at least one painting in the publication and my wood carving assignment from my sculpture class got in. Woohoo!!

Lol, now I just have to find a time to get down to the college to pick up my copy of the publication!

This was just me trying to do something little different than I normally would make.  Every piece of this necklace except for the two rings attached to the clasp were scavenged from old pieces of jewelry. The pendant is actually made from two different pendants. The original pendant had some ugly emblem on the back and I took it off and epoxied the rose cab onto the back making it the front instead. The rose cab also came from a pendant but had come unglued for its bail and frame which was kind of boring so I used it here instead. The back of this pendant, which was the original front, contains a mirror. The brass leaf links came from a piece of costume jewelry that I took apart, the clasp was also acquired from another piece of jewelry, and the chain was just some old broken jewelry chain that my dad had lying around and gave to me to use. I was trying to make something similar to the Victorian/Edwardian style necklaces.
