General Discussion / The Alchemist's Vacation
« on: November 18, 2014, 09:33:49 AM »
Good Morning,

I have been on hiatus for a while, but not by choice.  On October 18th, 2014, I had a Heart Attack.  :-X  A real bona fide Ventricular Fibrillation, they had to shock my heart back in to beating correctly.  I am OK and on the mend, but have other things I have to deal with too, Doctor's Appointments and the like.  I will be on a medicinal regiment for about a year and then medication will be changed for an additional two years under a Doctor's care.  It is a genetic or hereditary problem and would have happened eventually .

In order to deal with this latest monkey wrench in the works, I will be putting The Alchemists Vessel shop on vacation in the next day or two for reorganization and to get my schedule and health up to snuff.  The shop on Etsy will be closed after the last item has expired, I believe that is around December 27 or so.

I want to thank everyone for their continued support, I see my items in Highlights and being shared other places as well, and it that makes me happy.  Thank you, it is appreciated.

Happy Holidays, Joyous New Year, and Great Sales to all.

General Discussion / Color Me Frustrated
« on: August 15, 2014, 08:52:39 AM »
Good Morning,

I know it's bad form to whine, but this really chaps my hide, and I know no one here would be so inconsiderate.

I list items on another site, and as we know Chainmaille is a very specific form of jewelry, and does not consist of manufactured chain, pendants, and other items not made of hundreds of tiny rings.

One vendor (and now more have started) tags everything in their shop "chainmaille", it isn't even close.  Why did they do this?  Because the category is empty, myself and perhaps two other shops actually sell maille, and there are not thousands of "jewelry items" to look through on those pages.

It is frustrating, and makes me mad to think that someone is using the tag/category just to be seen. I don't even think they know what chainmaille is.  I did contact the powers that be on the site, and have no idea if anything will happen or not.  If the issue isn't resolved that's one more site I drop, and just one more reason to stay right here.

I love Handmade Artists.

Knitting, Crochet, Sewing and Needlework / Muffatees and Scarves
« on: September 20, 2013, 10:10:59 AM »
So I got brave and listed several hand-knit items for sale.  With the inundation of jewelry, I think I'll give up on that, just too much of it and I get lost in the sea.

Holiday Muffatees, I changed the pattern a little to be more sleeve-like, but still warm and cozy and I also posted the knit scarf that was featured in the blog Knit-A-Long, "Camouflage".

Jewelry / Caught Couture
« on: May 19, 2013, 10:19:38 PM »
Time for a little whimsy and a pun or two.  Simply, fun and unique in its own weird little way.  "Caught Couture", yes,  you're right. It is a play on the words Haute Couture, because my head works in mysterious and wonderful ways once in a while.  All listed and ready for a good home, or nice jewelry box.

Using the new Guidelines I posted this week, using "Rings" as a theme to give this a go.

*I have no clue what that link goes to, but it is what they gave me to copy)

This is too much like my scheduled posts for Tuesday's "Five Great Gifts to Give"; I have tried to implement the invite here, but no one ever took me up on it after the first round.  (Five Great Gifts posting -

I do not want to do two similar posts a week.  This took me just about 45 minutes to complete. That includes writing the blog, posting, sharing and coming back here to add the links. I am not including the time it is taking me to jot down these thoughts.

Personal preferences are just that, and I am not happy with today's post at all.  It is not focused and may get a cursory glance instead of a full reading.  This rather disappoints me. Bummer.

So in the interest of keeping my blog in tact, I will not be using the new Guidelines;  however I will continue to feature an artist every week, using the theme set by the Ring.

I truly think posting this way defeats the purpose of a Featured Artist.

My two cents.  You may now throw me to the wolves or burn me at the stake.

General Discussion / Shop Closing
« on: May 06, 2013, 09:06:48 PM »
Hello All,

Since I have signed up for Blog Rings and have signatures and things here that still need to be dealt with, I just wanted to let you all know that I will be closing the shop Blackbird Metalworks.  I simply do not have enough items to make the shop visible here, nor can I keep up with the production and listing for two shops, just not that organized.  The building has once again been made available to me for the B and M Store, so I have to give something up, much as I dislike the idea, something has got to go.  Might as well be the thing that is not performing at all.  The items will be relisted on the Alchemists Vessel Shop and the Facebook page will be shutting down as well.  I just can't keep up with it all.

Thank you for all your support.

General Discussion / Moss Agate Cabochon Ring Size I Need One
« on: April 15, 2013, 10:21:00 AM »

I am in need of a Green Moss Agate cabochon, ring size around 10 x 8 or 12 x 6mm.  Got one?  I need one and kind of in a  hurry.

I have been asked to create a Sweet 16 ring for a friend's daughter and she has her heart set on Green Moss Agate.  I am finding listings for some gorgeous pieces, but they all come from Europe and I would like to find one in the states.

Fire Mountain and other suppliers I have checked have beads but no cabs.  Magpie is closed until July, that doesn't help, and they didn't have any way.

Any help or if you have one in your stash you'd like to sell I'd love to look at it!

Please and thank you.  Yes, I have also messaged Rasmussen Gems and asked Jon as well.

Jewelry / Captured Color Collection
« on: April 13, 2013, 09:46:25 PM »
Hello there,

I have been steadily working on these for fun (and of course profit).  These come in a variety colors and soon I will be filling the shop with Gunmetal Tone (Exterior) ones in the same accent colors aimed at the younger "hipper than I" crowd...  Fun to wear and to wonder about, the puzzle-like construction may have you pondering, how do those rings just float there like that?

This one would make an awesome alternative to a Breast Cancer Awareness accessory or lapel pin.  It is not a ribbon, but it is sort of...  ;)

All listed and ready for sale.

Jewelry / Kahleesi Necklace Set
« on: April 02, 2013, 06:58:47 PM »
Bronze and Copper hand cut and sanded disks have been antiqued and linked to an antiqued bronze chain, accented with genuine turquoise beads.  Fantasy or High Fashion, you decide.  All listed and ready for sale.

Jewelry / Malachite and Sterling Silver Earrings
« on: March 29, 2013, 06:56:09 AM »
I haven't listed these yet, and I am not sure if I am going to, I need better photos for one.

These were made for a job interview, I was given the raw materials (pre-cut and measured metal and stones) and design instructions, then turned loose to create them.  I did not get the job,  but I think they came out rather nice, and the owner let me keep them.

Jewelry / Mini Maille Bracelet
« on: March 19, 2013, 09:40:38 PM »
So, yes I have to make everything tiny or smaller.  These are accented with seed beads size 6.0. Yes indeed it is tiny.  A combination of Round and Inverted Maille weaves

Site Support / Listing Trouble Photo Related
« on: March 04, 2013, 07:33:32 PM »
Hi I was adding a couple of new photos to a listing.  When I clicked the image to see a larger or clearer image (double click and the screen takes you to the Photo with it's own URL), I am receiving this message on some of the listings, but not with other listing photos.  Help.  :(
