Handmade Artists' Shop (HAFshop) / Do we have an app for the shop yet?
« on: November 12, 2013, 01:57:25 PM »
I looked around and couldn't find anything on it.
Since I have started my move here for all things handmade, I have had several people ask me if we have an app like Etsy.  We come from a hugely technical area of the country and a lot of people that even frequent my craft shows, are all on their cells and shop from them frequently.  They love my QR codes on my cards and my tags.  In fact, most of the kids I sell to, don't even seem to know what a PC is anymore.  Imagine that.  Anyway, Let me know, perhaps for the right incentive, I may even try to find out what it takes to take a stab at it.

I also have a few more suggestions to make listings a bit more user friendly and faster, but you know, I don't want to give everything away all at once. HA!

Events & Promotions / 20% off entire purchase in my Etsy shop
« on: October 23, 2013, 08:27:53 PM »
I got a coupon sale going on in my Etsy Shop until Halloween
20% off entire purchase when you use the code JUST4KICKS at checkout.  sorry that doesn't include custom items.
I have over 250 items and a lot of them are supplies and stuff you can create with.  I even have a tutorial and a metal kit.  Also getting ready to list some vintage yarns and materials that I just got in an estate sale.

Handmade Artists' Shop (HAFshop) / So how are everyone's sales?
« on: October 11, 2013, 02:31:25 PM »
Can someone direct me to some of the shops with the most sales so I can do some research?  Main thing I want to see is your presentation. I know what people look for on Etsy, they jam it down your throat, but I am just starting out here, so to speak and need to see what people are looking for here.  I know that each site has its own following.  BTW, anyone is more than welcome to critique any of my shops or pages. I am always looking to improve.  I will be glad to do the same for anyone else.  Thanks in advance.

I am just now getting back on this site for selling but have had an Etsy for years.  I just celebrated 5 years there.  I am having a 20% off your entire purchase in my shop right now.  https://www.etsy.com/shop/TUTreasures  Just type in the code JUST4KICKS at checkout and viola, your savings await you.  I got all kinds of goodies and reclaimed vintage supplies, plus my work, of course.  Never too early to start shopping for Christmas and at these prices for yourself.  See you in my Etsy shop and as soon as I get my HAF Shop up to speed, I will be offering a coupon there as well.  Happy shopping and have a great day everyone!

Jewelry / This is what I created from the awesome trade Jan and I did.
« on: February 22, 2011, 02:13:12 PM »
Just in case you are not following our trade discussion on the other topics. I just wanted to share my creation using some of the awesome goodies Jan traded me last month.  The trade went without a hitch, but I still feel like I got the better deal.  Enjoy.

BTW, I call it "Blue Bird of Happiness"
Hope you like it.

Yeah! I hit over a hundred sales.  So, In appreciation for all my customers and friends here at HAF and all over the globe, I am giving away one of my newest creations.  Also, if you planned on taking advantage of my sticker ad offer, get them to me before the end of the contest so that the winner can get your press too.  Hugs everyone and good luck. Please pass it around.  Thanks. MWAH!

I am sorry if this copies anyone else's idea but there is just so much on the forum to read that I can't get thru it all.  I know someone will point me in the right direction to join something like this if, someone has already offered to do this.  I also hope that I am posting in the right place too.  Again if not, some one please direct me otherwise.
Since I have changed my Etsy store format, my sales have increased by about 30-40 percent.  I find myself sending 3-5 items out a week now, rather than 3-5 items per year.  Anyway, with all my extra traffic, I thought I would offer some extra traffic to my friends here at HAF.
It is as simple as this.
First a question.
Do you have or use in your own shipments, small mailing sized stickers or tiny tags that has your logo or website or information about your handmade business?
If so, send me a bunch of them and I will plaster them all over my shipments, or in the case of tiny tags, I will put them inside a shipment, along with my own press, of course.
This is actually an idea that i got from my last CC bill. They always have some kind of ads along with the bill, from other companies that accept their credit cards, trying to get you to spend more money.  Problem with those, is that they are like cold calls, and over 80% or more of the people that get those, will toss them, because it doesn't interest them.
In our case, we are sending the same information to people that are already buying and looking for the type of things we create and sell, because that is what they just bought.  They call that a captive market.
Anyway, That way, when my clients get my products, they can also get your information, as well.
It really does not take that long to do and anyone can offer to do this.
In fact I have a shipping area in my house that I have all that kind of stuff ready to get slipped into or onto any shipment I make.
For a small amount of effort and cost on your part, your creations get exposed to someone that might not have seen it otherwise and it does work.
Does this make any sense to anyone or am I just creating again?
Well let me know or just send me some of your small  (no bigger than a regular mailing address labels, preferably a return address) labels.  You can make them your self or have them made, it does not matter.
One of the good things about this kind of thing, especially the stickers, is that while they are being delivered, quite a few people see the stickers and use the information on them, too. I know you wouldn't think so, but you know how curious people get.  Heck, sometimes when I drop my stuff off at the post office, I catch the clerk turning my packages over and over and looking at all the stuff on them.  So anyway, let me know what you think and or just send me some of your smaller press.
My address is TUT P.O. Box 1760 New Waverly, TX 77358  I will stick them onto or into my shipments.
Thanks for reading anyway.  If anyone else would like to do this too, just give us a place we can send our smaller press to and help out too, if that is ok with our leaders.  This can also be done for anyone on the forum, not just the Etsians.
Happy Creating everyone.

If you all don't see me around here that much this month it is because I will be participating in a weekly craft fair in my area.  They just started a new fair, happening every Saturday, with local artisans, food vendors, and musicians and I have been elected to be a part of the great fun.  If anyone is in the area or you know someone who is, come on out and see me and my artsy buds. There are also many cool shops and art galleries in the area and there are a bunch of other festivals going on as well.  Lots of fun, fun, fun and a great way to spend the day with the family in a cool little town.  Here are some more details and how to get there.  http://www.conroesaturdayammarket.com

Creative Creations / I made these to wear on stage this weekend.
« on: February 18, 2010, 11:40:26 AM »
I got this pattern from a friend on Etsy. I looked for days to find just the right pair of fingerless gloves for the show that I am doing this Saturday. I finally saw this pattern and decided to make them myself.  This is a vintage pattern from the 1940's.  They took me about 2 days total to make but I think they are just perfect.  What do you think? The next ones that I do are going to be embellished with either fun fur or fun beads or maybe even both.  Thanks for looking. 8)

From my Giant Toggle Clasp Collection of bead weaved madness. Can I advertise it as for a bride?  The paisleys are iridescent delicas and the toggle is a recycled fancy mother of pearl button. Wish I could have gotten the pics to show them better.  Enjoy.

General Discussion / I found this great new exposure site.

When you sign up, they give you three free ad blocks for a month. I read from one of the people that I fanned on FB and they said that it helped them to get three sales on their Etsy shop. I am trying it out myself.  It is very easy to do and it virtually leads you along, as how to list things. I am not sure how many is the limit but I think you can put as many tags as you want too.  I put in all mine plus a few and it never stopped me.  You can also change your links as many times as you want.  It can't hurt. Hope it helps you all out.

General Discussion / I just read this awesome blog.
« on: January 16, 2010, 11:10:54 PM »
I am always looking for new and better ways to get more sales, obviously, in my Etsy store.  Don't get me wrong but being that HAFStore is new, we will all have to school each other there and then make a blog like the one below.

http://susanasheehan.blogspot.com/2009/07/etsy-how-to-make-it-work-for-you.html

She gives some really great advice on how to make Etsy work for you, getting more sales, etc.  She also links to others with more detailed advice on some of Susan's tips and tricks.  I liked her approach because she only gives tips that she knows, she does not promise anything or lead you to expect things.  However, she is doing pretty well and gets lots of sales.  One thing that she mentions is joining a team that focuses on self and others' promotion which is one thing that all of us here on HAF have already accomplished.  Thanks to everyone for that, as well.  Front page seems to be where it is at, so make sure that you at least try to read her blog.  They always say that the best way to be successful is to copy someone that already is successful.  Happy selling guys.  Hope this helps out.

I called these "Heart of Blues" Listed here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=38519767

I have not come up with a name for these two yet. Perhaps you guys can help me out here.  Pre-she-eight it.

Hugs to everyone today!! I am just feeling so much better now that I have hammered it out.
