Site Support / Re: Closing Shop
« on: July 27, 2017, 11:50:16 AM »
Selling online has changed a great deal and it is harder and harder to do. So much competition from every angle. Pointing fingers and placing blame helps no one.

I just got 2 of these messages today. Each using a different email address. I would love to know how they "bought stuff" from my shop when there is nothing in it.

torrsompalo1972 and taibundegas1973 are what they used. Phishing in a huge way!!!! DO NOT CLICK ON ANY LINKS IN THEIR EMAILS!!! You will be sorry.

I will continue to create. I have to or I will go crazy! Right now I am putting together simple things to clear out stock and donate. It's mostly just strung beads, so it should appeal to more people. It will be going to our local St. Vincent de Paul store since they use the money for the food bank. I'm also making a bunch of earrings for a Christmas gift drive by our town fire department. We will also make a monetary donation as well as canned food.
I am still working on this house too. Still have stuff that needs painting. We will be working on our bathrooms this winter hopefully. So anyway, I will NOT be sitting around being bored.  ;D

It's been swell guys. I cleared out my shop and have decided to take a break. No more online selling for me.

Popped back in to see what was up and it appears I've missed a good bit.  :-[

I've started promoting 1 item per day from my shop to see if I can get something going. I will try to do this for the remainder of the year. After that I will likely close up. I still love making stuff, but I feel like the stress of trying to sell online is taking all the fun out of it. It's so much easier in person. Still exploring what to do on that front. So far I've not seen much that my jewelry would fit in to. It's either not "country" enough, or not fine enough. I've even thought about opening a store again. :-\

It's good to see everyone. I will make an effort to stop by more often.

You are NOT a silly Gramma! This really sounds like someone trolling for stuff. SCAM big time. I agree with Larissa-just ignore them. Not worth the time or effort.

Well it has been quite some time since I've popped in. Like most of you I have been busy but not with shop stuff. The usual painting and updating stuff.  Our NC house has gone on the rental market now too. We have to do something since it has not sold. Depending on how things go, we will either try again to sell in a couple of years or just keep the place as an investment. It's funny how things go from region to region. With our NC house, no one wants to buy and update on their own. In our current neighborhood, homes sell in a matter of weeks and many of them are not updated. The NC house is on 1.22 acres whereas most homes here are maybe 1/3 acre. We happen to have one of the biggest lots in the neighborhood. It is .6 acres.

I am thinking about adding some hand made supplies to my shop. I have a bunch of links made and some pendants so far. I need to take pictures and get my shop sorted for the new stuff. This will be my last attempt at trying to make this work.

Good to see everyone, though many of you I see on FB. I will try and come around more often. Getting ready for my trip next month for my 40th high school reunion. Turns out that an old friend lives close by and we are going together. Should be a lot of fun!

Quiet around here! I've been popping in on occasion but haven't really had any comments to post. Still the same old song and dance for me. I sold a handful of jewelry at our yard sale. The weather was not great and many people didn't even bother to get out of their cars. We still did okay-got rid of some stuff that we've had for awhile or just didn't need anymore. I have sorted through my jewelry cases and am planning on donating a whole bunch to the Salvation Army store. I may bring some to Goodwill too. I still have a lot left, so will try to sell more at our next sale whenever that is.
Still trying to sell our NC house. It has been a royal pain you know where. The realtor is marketing it big time and we dropped the price (it's well below assessed value now). I have the very distinct feeling we will end up renting it out for a year or two. After that we will have to do some renovations to the kitchen and master bath (again).  ::)

Still plugging away with updating the current home. Doing small stuff each pay period.  Slowly, but surely it's coming along.
We are finally getting some rain free days and it's warming up. Today I am getting my hair done. I REALLY need this badly. It's been months and it shows.
Craziness has begun in earnest   with the Indy 500 coming up. It's the 100th running, so a lot of extra hoopla. Everything is booked solid. People are renting rooms in their homes and even converted storage sheds for the weekend.
This weekend hubby and son will be in Hickory Hills painting. Hubby's uncle just retired and moved down near Terry's parents. He is mentally challenged and my FIL is his brother. They are painting the place to get it cleaned up and ready to sell.
That about sums it up for now. Have a great day and weekend!

I got that same message. Not cool. I am just ignoring it.

Popping in to say hi! Nice to see you Monika. I'm happy the whole cat situation worked out though it was a hard thing to do. Best for everyone.

Still haven't had much motivation to create anything new. I have taken out a good bit of things from my shop. I will just put it out at our community yard sale and hopefully unload some. I think the universe is telling me to move on to something else or at the very least a different style of jewelry. With our weather getting better I will be more focused on getting the outdoor space in shape, so any big change will not come for some time.

Just Life / Re: Bees!
« on: February 25, 2016, 09:38:44 AM »
It is amazing that so much sap is required to make syrup, but it is soo worth it!!! I could never go back to the fake stuff.

As for planting for bees, I have a pretty good list of things to plant in both the front and back. It includes:
Cosmos, Purple Coneflower, Dahlia, Snapdragon, Goldenrod, Lavender, and Catmint. Goldenrod concerns me a bit because it's always been considered a weed (like dandelions) but it is pretty. If I plant it, it will likely go towards the back of the yard close to the creek. I want to have a fairly "wild" section back there and will put the bird feeders there too.

OMG, that's gorgeous!

It's not like my honeycake.  Sweeter and more soaked in the syrup.  The maple syrup with some butter melted in go in the bottom of the pan, and the cake batter spooned in on top before baking, so it's more wet on the bottom half where the maple soaks in, and more try on top.

It sounds a lot like the Pineapple Upside Down Cake my Mom used to make. I'll let Terry know you like his bench and about the cutting boards. We will be gone this weekend so they probably won't be done for a little bit yet.

Thanks Bev and Sandi. I'll let Mr. Teresa know you like his bench. (His name is Terry) :)
Sounds like you have been busy, busy, busy Bev! Keeping a blog can be hard. I have to say that I don't miss it.
Sandi, I know you always have something going on! I have not been so motivated with the exception of working on this house. I will starting to paint ceilings here pretty quick. They are all textured and not a bad pattern so we'll keep them. At least it's not popcorn!!! I think they had a smoker here at some time since they all have a yellowish tint to them. It's either that or they never painted them.

I love the quilt Sandi! Of course you always make such awesome stuff!

I thought I attached a picture of the bench in my last post. I either forgot or it didn't stick. Anyway, here you go with the bench. Cutting boards aren't done yet.

I saw your posts about the cake on FB too Larissa. Looks and sounds so yummy! Is is similar to a honey cake? I love Honey Cake!
With our expected bad weather, I made Split Pea Soup and fresh whole wheat bread for dinner. I've had this yeast for quite awhile and I felt like trying to make some bread. I used a recipe that my Mom used to make all the time. Super easy and fairly fast. We are expecting 3-5" of snow. So far it's just been a lot of rain, but I can see it starting to transition to sleet a little. It will be done by the weekend which is good. We will be in Chicago for our Zoey's 4th birthday! Well, a small break in the precip, so I am going to get the girls out. Later guys!.

Took advantage of the nice weather and started some pruning. I cleaned up a tree on the side of the house and a couple bushes in the back. I'll be working out front next, but probably not for a couple weeks yet. The city doesn't start regular brush pick up until March, so I don't want piles in my front yard just yet. Besides we are expecting snow again.

Terry used some of the remaining walnut he had and made a bench for the foyer. It's been nice to sit and put on/ take off boots, shoes, etc. Now he's been making some cutting boards. I will be very happy when he gets his workshop built. First we must sell our NC house though. We've had quite a few showings and possibly a couple of interested buyers. I'm trying to not get too excited just yet.

Starting to get things together for our daughter's upcoming wedding. It's gonna be different that's for sure. They are into scifi and games so some of that is being incorporated into their attire. They asked guests to wear something along those lines too. I have earrings from the Lord of the Rings collection. Hubby had a friend make him a Dr. Who bow tie and pocket square. I think this is going to be so fun!

Time to go and feed the girls and give them their pills. Then I will get started on dinner. Experimenting with a new recipe tonight. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Teresa,   I still love Snoopy!  and I am perilously close to a hundred!

Somehow I don't think you're THAT close to a hundred! I have always loved Snoopy myself.

That's quite the adventure with the honey Larissa. Now when all that ice melts you'll be wiping up water from everywhere. It reminds me of when I was a kid and I would get frost on the knee wall in my bedroom. We had a very old house and not the best insulation. And of course my bedroom faced north so I would get those nice Lake Superior winds.

I got our driveway and sidewalk shoveled this morning. We may get some rain and I was concerned about ice forming. It will all be gone by the end of the week since we are supposed to get to nearly 60 on Friday. The weather here is a lot like NC weather it seems. We just get snow more often.
