Muffatees and Scarves
« on: September 20, 2013, 10:10:59 AM »
So I got brave and listed several hand-knit items for sale.  With the inundation of jewelry, I think I'll give up on that, just too much of it and I get lost in the sea.

Holiday Muffatees, I changed the pattern a little to be more sleeve-like, but still warm and cozy and I also posted the knit scarf that was featured in the blog Knit-A-Long, "Camouflage".

Brave? ??? They look fabulous! you have nothing to be concerned about except them selling out quickly and having to knit more!

What's a muffatee?  Good luck with selling the knitting. Love that red.   I can relate to your difficulties selling jewelry.  That is one of the reasons I am moving to the art/jewelry crossover.

A muffatee is a Victorian Wrist Warmer.  Sometimes they were made by cutting the feet off worn socks (a trick girls still use today).  Bob Cratchet wore them, and if you remember your Beatrix Potter, Benjamen's Bunny Mother knit them for a living.

They are usually a knitted tube with a slit / hole for a thumb, fingerless, they rest just above or below the knuckle, keeping your hands warm but leaving fingers free for tasks.  The Holiday one's are just tubes with a pretty little ruffle at the end.  Here is a pair I knit for myself several years ago, I still wear them on occasion.
