yeah, they are, trying to fix something that isn't broken instead of concentrating on things they should fix.

Pretty soon you cant list anything anymore over there....everyone is so confused and then got closed down because they didn't know the rules, or the rules weren't made public in time....what a holy mess.....

Don't they make a ton of money in the jewelry section, talking about hanging themselves with their own ropes......(shakin my head) and to think some of us went BACK over there.... :o

From what I've been able to muddle out, there's a huge question on why 'rocks' can be sold in one capacity but not the other because her answer is contradictory and then there's some question about the validity of some chains but not others.   :-\

another good reason why I don't do business there.

basically, i now would not be able to list the gemstones and cabochons that I cut as being supplies to be used by other artists/jewelers.  and custom cutting is one of the things that I offer.

I didn't read much, but I think they are talking about unaltered rocks, not drilled, not cut, etc.
However I really don't care what they do. I've long stopped caring about over there.

Completely confused by the entire explanation...maybe tired but my head will just not compute what was said into anything that resembles making sense.

That mandala rain sounds like she's ready to cry.  I feel really bad for the jewelers there who buy their raw stones there.

The thing is, those "unaltered" rocks are still supplies if the buyer is a lapidary artist. They may be a supply that not everyone is able to use, but they are supplies for someone. I have a friend on Etsy that sells her hand-painted rocks there, so for her those unaltered rocks could also be supplies if she were inclined to buy her rocks rather than find her own rocks.  The issue really is that Etsy should not be trying to define what is or is not a supply because they cannot account for all forms of craft and artwork so their view on supplies is limited by their own experience and understanding; they are also not the authority to be able to say "this is not and could never be a supply."

It doesn't sound like they're saying uncut rocks aren't ever a supply.  It sounds like their plan is more "you can't sell any supplies that COULD ALSO be used on their own for anything else," which is a little crazy.

I mean, Beth uses fancy paper for her cards, but I could use it as stationery on its own by just writing on it and throwing it in an envelope.  Jewelers use stones to make jewelry, cut or uncut, but my sister had a cool rock collection when she was a kid.  I had (have) a shell collection.  Pretty much anything could be used on its own if the right person gets a hold of it.

Etsy is going downhill faster and faster it seems.  They also changed something in the programming which makes many thngs not work with my browser.  Their solution was to change browsers, not fix the problem.
