[ON A LIST] Manage products page, editing tags and listing
« on: November 29, 2012, 09:52:11 PM »
Yes, I did list all those terms under one heading because it's all connected.
Sort of throwing a monkey wrench into the works here - and we're talking about some fairly extensive changes - so...................throwing this out there for discussion -
After spending  6+ hours adding in 3 tags, and two sentences in about half  my listings in both shops, going back & changing the wording & tags, and then going back and deleting the added text and tags,  I decided I have to ask.

1.  Is there a way to make the manage listing pages more efficient? as in could we return to the page we were on and not have to click through a bunch of pages to get back to where we were - or at lest have all the page numbers show so we could just click on that one page.  Personally, I have never used the search feature at the top of the page - could we have it somewhere else (or gone) and have more items per page?
2.  A global editor - at least for adding or subtracting tags would be so nice
3.  Listing a new item  - I admit, one of the things about ArtFire I really liked was the new listing page, it was just that - one page.

One of the 1st jobs I had was working in a  "garment" factory - eventually working with the production manager - part of my job was doing time studies on different parts of the garment construction.   I became very aware of how to do something more efficiently., sometimes it can be as simple as moving something 2 inches closer!
I only have 22 pages in one shop and 13 in the other with a combined total of 130 items.   I cannot imagine doing what I did with a lot more items.  As it is, I only did about half of the listings. If you start adding up all the clicks one has to make in order to make any additions or deletions to numerous listings, it adds up.  Each click usually only takes a second - sometimes longer depending on how things are running - but they add up!
I realize that as I'm get older, I am slowing down - and being able to do something as efficiently as possible starts becoming even more desirable.   Love cut & paste!

I was surprised at the lack of items when I searched for "sale", or "cyber Monday".

I do realize this is fairly extensive - but I wanted to put this out here for  discussion.   And since I can't get the Secret Kangaroo to spill the beans - I know you guys have something cooking - but no idea what it may be!

Being able to post this, without fear, is such a wonderful thing!  Kimberly & Andrew - you two know I love you guys and I'll be here no matter what the answer or decision is!  I can only imagine what would happen if I posted something like this on etsy!

Thanks Monika.  Well said.  Not a huge problem for me except that when my computer is having a bad day, it does take me a lot of time to make changes, so I do not make many.  Having the list new item on one page would be great or a global shipping so we don't have to do that every time would be nice.

But I do also understand that there are probably a lot of other things going on and I feel fairly certain that the list that Josey and the crew are working on is extensive, so I don't ask for much and I take what I get when I get it.

Description box is plenty big enough for me, if it gets much bigger, then I will get too wordy as I tend to do a lot.

I can reveal that Sarah is working with Kimberly and Andrew on some design concepts.  That's their realm and some of what you have said is on their list. Yay, someone else has a list!  What I am doing however is not any of the things mentioned, but I can put it on the list. :)   Patience!  It is taking a little bit because I need it to be perfect. :)

Those changes would be fabulous! I think it will make the whole site more appealing to possible new vendors too! Whoo-hoo I LOVE this place!

I like what you had to say. I would like the Description box to be bigger.

What I meant was the box on the add product page is the one I would like bigger. Not on the Item page. So I can see better what I have written.

I can go with "on the list"!  I have actually been sitting on these ideas for a while - but after spending so much time with putting in just a few simple things, I decided to speak up.  I appreciate Andrew & Kimberly and this site so much, & I really didn't want to cause any major waves, but I would like to be able to offer sales more often & I think it helps to put that info in the listings and tags - but it takes so long to make even those simple changes.

I get the "perfect" thing! and I know if the  coding is just a bit off, it can throw things off.

If someone at Af  or Etsy told me it was on the list, I'd probably not believe it - but I know if you says it's on the list and that Kimberly, Andrew & Sarah are working on a design thing - then I believe it! THANK YOU!  :)
