Maille Key Chains
« on: October 14, 2012, 10:31:03 AM »
I have spend that last couple of days sorting jump rings and making Key Chains, several of them are blow. I have two questions:

1.  How do I list these things?  Individually?  A mass listing with a note to the buyer to select just one and note it when ordering?

2.  What might be a better way to take pictures of these?  They look awful laying flat, and they swing to much when hung-up from something to get a good clear shot.

Suggestions, comments, ideas, all are welcome, because I'm all out.

I would list them individually just to avoid any confusion.  They are very pretty.  No good suggestions on pix.

List them separately, put some keys on them and hang them from the side of your purse or something, wait to take your picture til they stop swinging.  That helps.???

That's just it, the slightest movement and they start swinging.  Even clicking the camera button makes them move a little.  Sigh.  Hanging them from Purse is a good idea, shows them in use and the material of the purse may ease the swing.  Thank you.  Why didn't I think of that?

Maybe hang them from a nail or a hook on a wall or something else - putting a couple of keys on might help cut down on the swing action!   The purse is a good idea too - but guys don't use a purse and most of these will work for either.   Maybe from a back pocket if you have someone who can model for you!
List them individually! but, not all at once!  Space them out by a few hours - or maybe a couple a day - so they get to spend some time on the front page.
and you are using motorcycle as a tag right?  because they remind me of a key chain bikers would use.

Keys make them swing worse because of the weight difference and the distribution.  I got a big butt, and I can't deny!  Biker, Motorcycle, no, I hadn't thought of those, either, but I will now!  Thank you for the ideas and for sharing too!  ;D

I would also list them individually...and we have had the same problem with photographing key chains!  We have a bunch but have never been able to really get good pictures that I am happy with, though I like the idea of hanging them from a purse and may give that a try.

By the way, I love the angel wing charms!

how about just laying them down on something - then they wont swing at all.   Since I also do some sewing, I have oodles of fabric, but even if you don't sew you could get some nice pieces of material to lay things on  to take pictures.  One of my favorites is my black ultra suede material.

I have a couple of picture of them laying flat, but the rings don't lay right , making the piece look funny.  I think I may have a solution and I am going to try it, light permitting today.

A friend suggested I use "invisible" bead-string fishing line, filament, and add a small weight to the bottom of the strand, tape or glue dot the string to the back of the charm (in this case the feather) and hand the item, let the weight drop and it should hold the key chain in place.  That's the theory anyway.  Gonna give that a go.

Sounds like a plan! or just wait for them to quit swinging! yeah! that's fun!

Well, thank you. I have a lot of fun making the short lengths of colored chain.  They debut at the Flea Market next weekend.  Excited to see how they do, or if I get any comments about them from shoppers.
