Fun with crystals and historical inspiration
« on: April 20, 2012, 05:12:39 PM »
  I love my raw crystals!

Inspired by the festoon necklaces of the Victorian and Edwardian eras. This set is a chainmaille (weaves: Ilkorin and Not Tao 4 Chain) and wire-work set made from copper, Black Onyx, Hematite, and raw Quartz (I think) crystals only recently dug up. (Ilkorin is one of my own weaves).

Thank ye! I tried something a little different and tried to make wire-wrapped bracelet links, which is something I've never done before, so I'm really happy with how everything turned out.

I, too, have a thing for raw crystals...but I keep those for myself! I'm really stingy that way!!

These pieces are absolutely gorgeous!!!

Thanks everyone!!

Dee, I know a place where you can buy raw clear Quartz points by the pound.  Mine, I got from the gem buckets at one of the mines my family went to last year, but that same mine also sells the rough gem materials on their website.

TJrocks (a.k.a. Mason Mountain Mine & Cowee Gift Shop)  their Quartz points are listed under "rough stones."
