So I have been working on my fish for days now.  I can only go just so long before my back tells me I am done for the day.  But today, I finished all of the appliqué and the face of the quilt is ready to go on the quilt frame and be quilted.  The line drawing on the white background is the back of the face; this will be against the quilt batting inside the quilt. never again to be seen.  But I think it's neat to see where all of the sewing is.  Also interesting, 330 yards of green thread was NOT enough!

Very nice Sandi! If you don't mind my asking is there a special stitch you use for the applique? Or does it depend on the shape of the piece? (Yes I know that some processes aren't to be shared, so if this is one I understand)

Spinning guild today and some of our weavers have received awards from a weaving show that took place down state :)

It is a simple zig-zag stitch with the spacing set to zero.

Actually, I would prefer to do it that way, but I can't get enough money to cover my time.  But I still do quilt entirely by hand.

I understand completely about the time, but I knew you hand quilted so I had to ask. The yarn I spin for sale is either bulky or close to knitting worsted.  I can spin finer, but the time involved wouldn't pay, so I just bought some white sock weight yarn to dye for sale, simply because I've had so many requests for sock yarn for socks and shawls.

I love the quilt so far!

Leaving work in 7 minutes (and counting down!), and headed home, hopefully to spin.  I keep intending to spin more yarn and card more fleece, but stuff keeps stopping me.  I've been miserable for over a week with some kind of itchy rash on my arms and ears that seems to be spreading to my leg and face too.  It *may* be poison ivy or something similar - I've never had it before.  It's horrible, and I'm ready to rip my skin off.  Thankfully, I've got an 8:30 a.m. appt with the allergist tomorrow.

And last night after work, I had to sit through the LONGEST, most BORING, most PAINFUL environmental commission meeting, suffering with itching all the while, and trying to focus enough to take the minutes.  I really hope my allergist has some miracle cure, because all the anti-itch stuff I've tried and Benadryl haven't helped.

I did pitch my denim jacket in the wash last night, just in case it *is* poison something-or-other and the oils got on the jacket, re-affecting me every day.  So there's that.

Anyway, itching or no itching, tonight I spin or card, or both.  I'm joining the Tour de Fleece challenge in July, so I need lots of carded fleece to spin.  I've also got a couple racks of washed mohair locks (so shiny and curly and pretty!) that are almost dry, that I plan to lock spin, but not tonight.

Hope you don't have allergies to wool? Have you been in the woods or changed soaps, laundry detergents lately? I know these are things you have thought of but I had to ask . Feel better, have you tried a baking soda bath? (old, old remedy for itching)

Nope, I'm ok with wool, I make the soap (though I used the crap my friends buy when I was in MA June 10-11, but it wouldn't still be getting worse, I don't think), same detergent.  I was in the woods on June 9 on campus, and the first bit of rash showed up the morning of the 10th.  I thought it was spider bites.  Now I'm thinking poison whatever and I've been re-spreading it all this time unwittingly.

Or I found something to be allergic to.

Or maybe I'm mutating into another life form.

LOL "mutating into another life form"  This is making me think back to when my daughter was a baby and these spots started appearing and I thought she had gotten bug bites from being outside....kept getting more, went to Dr. and got quarantined for a week with the chicken pox  Knew you had considered all options, even turning into "a worker bee?" Hope it clears soon.
