It  is the best feeling to get  something done!  Joe  (my hubby)  has always done our remodeling  and   aside from  being  less expensive  it is  great to  tell people  he did it.  I found  some really pretty  counter top material  at  Home Depot   and  he went  to a builder's salvage  store and found the same thing for slightly more than half price.  I like having  my house look nice  but  it's even  better to save  a big pile of money.

I'm so glad it's Friday!  This week has been crazy.  I'm over my cold, which is good.  Work today was 9-5 per boss' request, instead of 10-6, so we're taking advantage of the extra daylight we'll have and as soon as I get home from work, Eric and I are going kayaking in our brand new kayaks on the lake.

Then I need to hit CVS for my zyrtec script and a bat mitzvah card for the bat mitzvah we're attending tomorrow.  Now if it would just be 5 p.m.!

Hello everyone.  Been a while since I posted.  Andrew, that's great you are redoing your kitchen and can do it yourself.  I have contractors starting Monday to redo my bathrooms.  That has been on my dream list for decades.  The bathrooms are mostly from 1960 with some minor updates in the early to mid 80's.  It will take three weeks for the 1 1/2 baths, and it will definitely disrupt the household.  I'll have to rough it until they get the new tub shower in and working.  I am hoping that will be before I go back to work the following week.  My youngest son is leaving for Stockholm again on Wednesday, so he will be gone for most of the updating.  My kitchen is next on the list but that will take some years to save up for that.  My goal is to get all the major updates done before I "retire."

I started a plan to lose weight and improve my health yesterday, and it went well the first day.  I am dong a juice fast and lost a little over 2 pounds on the first day.  I figured that would be best planned when I had time off work to get the hang of it.

Hi all!
Nice video Sandi.
For all the remodelers, good going! We had to hire a plumber last spring to take care of a drain and leaky faucet problem we had tried to fix ourselves...we aren't plumbers! but we did up-grade to a new kitchen faucet in the process.
I've been planting our garden as son gets it tilled for us. I'm realizing how out of shape I am/ plus not used to the sun, so have been working on it in spurts!
Trying to keep up with my blog/ posting pictures of my new finished projects as well as a run down on shows as we complete them. I feel like we must be re-modeling as we move things around to give us each the space we need to craft and make sure we have the things we need to take (to shows) loaded or ready to load!
Enjoy the weather as things seem to be getting nicer.

Hey, all!  This weekend was a mix of the eventful and uneventful.

We were supposed to go to my coworker/friend's daughter's bat mitzvah on Saturday, but E was having some horrible pain that had him thinking he might have to go to the hospital (and then he wouldn't go, the cretin, because he hates emergency rooms), so canceled those plans and my plans to go to poker night Saturday night to stay home and keep an eye on him in case he changed his mind.  He's calling a doc today.

He was already feeling better Sunday, so we ran a bunch of errands, including a new, smaller crock pot at target for beeswax, and started beeswax candles!  If you saw three go up in the shop, they're ours!  Wheeeeeee!  They make me so happy.

Today is work, I have to pop by the library to return a book & get a new one, and then more candles, I suppose.  I won't be listing more in the shop yet since we only have the 3 designs, but I'll be adding to the available numbers.

The contractors are here and the full bathroom is a mess, but I was told that I should have a working tub on Wednesday.  I was happy about that.

Day 3 of the juice fast is going well, and I lost almost three pounds in the first two days.  I was hoping for a little more but I'll take what I can get.

You're stronger than I am!  No way could I do any sort of fast, much as I want to lose weight too.  I'm even struggling with Weight Watchers since they changed the point system.  I feel like I never get enough food.

Larissa,
I just got to the point where I had to do something.  I weigh more now than I ever did and almost all of it was put on in the last two years.  Since I have off this week for the start of the bathroom work, I decided to do it now.  I'll have several days of work left at the end of it (I am doing a 15 day juice fast), so I'll make the juices at night and take them in a cooler to work to keep by my desk.  I found a plan that so far I am doing well on and a support group type of website where people doing the same thing encourage and help each other.  I found that I am drinking the juice so much that I don't get hungry.  I think the key is organization since you have to make the juice and plan it out ahead of time so you will know what to buy for it.  I am trying different types of juices to see which ones I like best at this point.  Some were good and others I won't be making again.

Will you be able to do a 15 day juice fast?     I was so proud of myself for  doing  a  1 day juice fast!   I   think  the only way  a fast of any sort will work for me  is for a  gang of thugs  to sit at table with me and enforce the dietary rules.   I hope it  works out for   you.   Much  luck!
The only  thing that  works for me   is to  do without  my  snacks at night.    No TV  or bedtime snacks.

So far I am doing well on it.  When I have gotten busy, I have gone a long time without eating some days, so maybe that is helping me now.  I would get busy on yard work for hours and not even think about eating.  From what others have said, after the first few days it gets better.  On this plan, I can have as much water and herbal tea as I want.  It also includes coconut water for electrolytes.  I didn't know if I would like that, but it's actually pretty good.  I have never done this before, and I am very motivated to get the weight off.  A desk job certainly does not help.  :)

Ah, there's the difference.  I never forget to eat, and if I don't eat regularly, I get dizzy and nauseous, and eventually black out.  Literally.  :)  The two times in my life I've tried to fast for Yom Kippur, I took a dive to the floor right in the middle of services in synagogue.

Anyway, normal day today.  Rainy.  I'm hoping the rain today & the sun we're supposed to have over the next two days get the grass seed in the backyard and the birdsfoot trefoil and red clover seed we put down in the front yard sprouting.

Didn't end up making more candles last night; Eric and I were both really tired.  But we did burn some of them to get burn times.  The tiny one burns a little over 2.5 hours, the honeycomb one over 4 hours, and we didn't get to finish burning the skep hive because it was taking so long, so I'll relight it tonight and we'll make more while we're relaxing.  I already have someone in my area who wants to buy two.

So far I'm doing ok with the juice fast.  There is a basic plan/guideline I am following to make sure I get balanced nutrients while I am doing it.  I lost four pounds in three days so far.

The contractors are continuing work today.  The electrician is here and the plumber will come tomorrow.  Out with told and in with the new. :)

Every single day this week has felt like Friday, which ends up really disappointing.  Sigh.

Nothing big today.  In the office 'til 6, and then more candles tonight.  I'm sure E is working on more cutting boards.  He's got one almost ready to sand down and wax, and another he needs to find his orbital sander for.

I've been a candlemaking fiend.  I have to say, while I loved making paraffin candles too, there's something to be said for not having to play with wax mixes and colors and scents and second pours and things and just being able to knock out unadulterated beeswax candles, which are healthier to burn anyway.  Love 'em!  Now we just need more molds so we can have a bigger variety than three designs.  :)

Are you getting your beeswax from your bees?
