Featured Artist Anna of Glass Works

handmade pendant“Go for it! If not now, when? Remember to tell yourself if it’s going to be, it’s up to me!” Wonderful words of encouragement to any artist out there wondering if they should jump into selling their own handmade work from the talented Anna of GlassWorks!

Anna was an artist from the start, winning first place in a first grade art contest and never looking back.  Her parents encouraged her artistic pursuits, though she says that is because she was an only child and it kept her occupied.  Following her passion, Anna taught High School Art for over 38 years!  In her opinion (and I believe this to be true!), “an artist must be creative to be happy.  It’s one of the essential elements in their lives just like breathing and sleeping.”  Anna works happily with most any medium and has tried her hand at watercolor, pen and ink, airbrush, ceramics, hand throwing pots and so much more.

Handmade Wire wrapAfter leaving the classroom, Anna pulled down a small kiln that she had purchased 25 years prior and dusted it off, rewired it since the years and a mouse had taken a toll on the wiring and began playing with glass.  Over time, the amount that she created and the amount she could give away wasn’t equaling up any more….solution?  Glass Works was born!  Anna tried craft fairs a couple of times but found that the atmosphere; too much like a carnival; was just not for her.  Instead, she set up a few online shops instead.  Anna loves the feeling of a customer finding that perfect piece of wearable art.  It also doesn’t hurt that profits from sales allow this creative soul to keep buying supplies to try even more new things!

Are you ready to see what feisty art teacher can do when left to her own devices?  Glass Works is easy to find on HandmadeArtists as well as on Etsy and Artfire.  It will only take you a moment to really see the passion that Anna puts into each and every one of her pieces of art!
