General Discussion / Re: Lazy Postal People
« Last post by YankeeBurrowCreations on Today at 02:46:56 PM »
I'm in a rural area.  I have to say that I have the best route drivers.  Even the sub is just as good as the regular guy.  I've never had a package delayed or go missing.  For pick-ups, I have a Rubbermaid "tub" on the porch.  If it's nice out, I leave my packages on top. If it's really windy or rain/snowing, they know to look inside.

My regular driver has an extra added touch.  He leaves a Milk Bone for my dog with any packages he delivers.
I live in the country too, and my postal workers are great.  Even though I had an oversize mailbox, they never "tried" to make a box fit, they always came to the door.  of course, they never left a bone for my dog....I'll have to "talk" to those people.

Yesterday I rested mainly after the 3-day show (not good but not our worst). Did ply 2/3 of the yarn I spun at it, so today after spinning some more and plying it I should have at least 600yds done :D .

Beth, Glad to hear you got some concrete answers from your doctor. Follow instructions and get your bedroom cooled...would a regular fan be able to push the cooled air from your window AC into your bedroom? (Here in the north I know more about circulating heat than cool :-\ )

My back is slowly improving, but I haven't returned to work yet (may be able to wait til fall and get it all better-the lifting and walking involved in waitressing isn't easy on the body) That would give me a summer devoted to crafting ;) . Today I want to start a period/costume pair of pants for my husband- I have my colonial dresses but he would look funny in those :P . and I have pictures to take, lots to list but I've been slow getting it done :( bad me!

Larissa- the big ugly looking grubs that I've seen this time of year are usually June bug larva, I usually just use a trowel to throw them out on the grass and the birds do the rest. I can't remember what the organic cure for them is. I also try to do companion planting (like marigolds with tomato plants) to discourage some pests. For your flowers they will fill in, and if you have spaces this fall stick in some daffadil bulbs for some early color next spring.

Yay, Larissa sounds like a busy few days coming up for you, but yay on all that you are doing.  Stomach virus is going around here so probably there as well.  Seems to be everywhere.  Did someone say blackberries,  I love love love blackberries.

I got a decent amount of sleep last night. Still not in bed before 1:30 a.m. but that is better than 4 am.  so about 6 hours sleep as opposed to 3  so I'm good, I am taking the day off and Leia is doing school with Jaeden,   Hmmmm ::) I am leaving the house.  She does not get to see this side of him during the actual school time period very often so I am not going to be here to partake of that argument.  She cooked me breakfast this morning, what a gal.

Ok, it's into the shower for me and out the door, I'll come back when the dust settles.

Have a great day everyone.  Enjoy the nursing homes Monika.

I certainly try!  I haven't yet sold a piece that I was presently wearing, but I know several others that have so I wear it just in case and have my business cards in my purse at all times and try to have my phone and square with me as well. You just never know.
Right I always carry my square with me as well. right again, just never know.

I have cards on me at all times.  Yes, I do wear the jewelry that I make and though I have not sold it right off my body yet, I do get sales from wearing it.  If they like it and say so, then I talk about it and let them know that many of my things can be done in different colors.  I don't usually sell it right from my body, well cus I'm a big boned girl you see and bracelets and rings on me don't generally fit anyone else.  So most of my things would be considered custom due to the sizing.
