I dont know if this is the right place to put this, but my boss on the SMF forum I admin on is a coder who does themes. If you want I could ask her to do this forum a theme.. probably for free. This is her theme website  - http://tcc.theacforum.com/index.php. There is also a site that does free themes specifically for SMF forums - http://www.smfthemes.org/index.php?theme=42

I've seen PC mixed with macrame or hemp knotted bracelets so I though why not? Think its more about finding the right weave to work with the bead.. this is pretty large bead (about 5cm end to end) so the weave needed to be substantial.

I'm new here, but thought I would show a couple of my newer pieces for some feedback.

'Gridbox' in anodized aluminium with one of my handmade polymer clay beads.

Half Persian 4 in 1 in anodized aluminium and EPDM rubber rings..making it stretchy so no clasp.

Thanks for looking :D

Very interesting. I like working with anodized aluminium... lots of colour with very little weight.

General Discussion / Re: Looking At Sites...
« on: April 23, 2009, 04:45:45 AM »
I have an ArtFire Studio. I was attracted by the lack of sales commission. Yes you have to pay by the month if you want to list more than 10 items, however.. you can list as much as you like, and searches are randomised, with a slight bias to verified sellers, so its a more level playing field. The staff are also very willing to listen to what the artisans want.
But regardless of which site you use, like 1000markets or Etsy or whatever.. you have to be prepared to market yourself, to promote yourself at every opportunity. If you are on a site like ArtFire, promoting other Artisans helps bring in the buyers. You also need to be very very very patient... jewellery in particular is a saturated market in terms of handmade.
As to networking sites.. personally I use plurk. I have it linked to my twitter and my facebook - 3 birds with one stone. Plus I have two blogs, use byhand.me, votehandmade and jump at any chance to get my name and items out there.

Hi, I'm Haffina. I'm an Australian, who happens to admin on another SMF site. I came across 'Chainmaille by MBOI' on Twitter, and then again when looking for open Project Wonderful ad spaces..so I thought it was a sign! I love Chainmaille.. absolutely obsessed.. spent most of today making new pieces and experimenting and trying to learn new weaves. I also make other types of jewellery, including polymer clay beads. I have a studio on ArtFire and a store on the SMF forum I admin on.
Oh.. and Im also a mum of 5 kids  :D
