When you are typing a post you should have an "Additional Options..." below.  If you click on that it gives you the option to attach an image. Hope this helps.

Events & Promotions / Advertising with Bing.
« on: October 26, 2011, 12:19:09 PM »
So I learnt something the hard way recently when it comes to advertising.  I received a free $50 coupon from GoDaddy to advertise on Bing.  Great!  So I set my ad up to start on September 21st and end on October 3rd and set the budget to $50 a month.  What I didn't realize is the month is classed as "September", "October" etc. and not a 30 day run (which is what I thought) so I was charged $50 for the ad to run from September 21st through September 30th and $50 to run the ad from October 1st through 3rd!!!!!  To add insult to injury I got no sales and very little traffic!!! This is just a word of warning to others that may want to use Bing to advertise.  Maybe Google Adwords and Facebook Ads run the same way? As my dad always says - "We iive 'n' learn"

Just in time for Halloween! Black onyx beads that are cut so they slot into each other (remind me of a bike chain) which I finished off with this bold sterling silver skull charm.  Watch your man doesnt start wearing this one!  This is meant to hug the neck but I can add an extender if you want it a little longer. Length: 15".  You can purchase at: http://www.michaelajewelry.com/Black-onyx-and-Sterling-Silver-Skull-Necklace_p_28.html

Introduce Yourself / Re: Introduce Yourself

@ Carina, Welcome to Handmade Artists' Forum!! I'm sure you'll get plenty of great tips and advice.  If you have any questions there is always somebody who has an answer.  I look forward to getting to know you!

@ Connie of Connie Creates.  Very nice website!  It's simple, uncluttered and easy to navigate.

A couple of suggestions -

1.  Maybe add more photos of each item from different angles.  When customers are purchasing from the web they want to see as much of the product they are purchasing as possible seeing as they can't actually touch it.

2.  Add more text to your pages to include your keywords.  Search engines look for text and keywords and the ratio of one to the other.  The more you explain your product and have your keywords listed a few times on each page search engines can find you better.  But don't overdo the keywords - search engines don't like this. Maybe 2 or 3 times on each page.

Other than that I think you've done a lovely job of your website!

Thank you trusk4u.  Some great tips. Good point - I can accept credit cards - I have the Square that attaches to my iPad - so far so good. Although I've done a couple of tests with it I just haven't used it for anything more than that at this point.  Great tip about the baskets and lots of mirrors!

General Discussion / Hosting a Jewelry Party
« on: October 10, 2011, 02:25:47 PM »
Now that the holidays are quickly approaching I wouid like to offer jewelry parties to my friends at their homes.  I've never done one before and I was wondering if any of you have any experience in this area?

1.  Do you give the host a gift - a free bracelet/necklace or pair of earrings? Or if sales are a certain $ amount do I give the host (my friend) a certain amount of $ to spend on my jewelry?

2.  Do I pay for drinks/appetizers?

3.  What other suggestions would you give somebody who has never held a jewelry party before?

Thanks
Margaret
