General Discussion / Re: What are you doing today?
« on: November 12, 2015, 10:53:42 AM »
Been stupidly busy lately, but I am back now. We were gone to Chicago for the weekend to see our daughter get her PhD. It was a nice ceremony and not too long. So she is officially a doctor now and done with school. The one thing she wants to get for herself is a tee shirt that "I'm not that kind of doctor." People automatically think she can diagnose various ailments  and try to show her stuff.  ::)

I am off to see an orthodontist today. I have an abscess that needs to be treated by them and not my regular dentist. I just hope it isn't too bad, though I am not in pain. Just a little uncomfortable.

Our fence is done and the pups are loving that. We can actually go and play for real now. Today however is super windy and they aren't liking it too much.

I've got to get some stuff done before my appt. I will be back around to bug you guys a bit more now. :)

I saw some of your face posts on FB Larissa. Pretty darn awesome! As for me, I found Halloween more fun when I had little ones around. I (nor my husband) are really into the whole costume thing. My daughter on the other hand usually has at least a couple since they go to several parties every year. It seems that in this neighborhood, some people actually serve food (Hot food) to people as well as handing out candy. Someone had a bon fire going to I guess. Might explain why we did not have a ton of kids. I don't think either one of our neighbors gave out anything, so I'm sure that didn't help.

Our daughter's graduation is this Sunday, so we will be in Chicago. She will be getting her PsyD (Doctor of Psychology) and will be truly and totally done with school. Needless to say we are excited for her and quite proud. She has worked really hard for years.

The fence guys have finally started getting our fence up. They are out digging post holes right now. They build on site and are supposed to be done in 2 days. I know our dogs will be happy to be able to run in their backyard now.

We are kicking around ideas about what to do with our NC house. No showings this week and I'm sure they will slow down a lot now. Still unsure if we want to rent the place out for a year and then try to sell again. We may just keep it off the market for a month or so, do some more "fixes" and then get it back on the market for the spring. That seems to be the big time for house buying down there.
Well, have to go and fold more clothes and get stuff hung up so it doesn't wrinkle. See ya later.

Glad to hear that you are on the mend Kimberley. Monika, you take care of yourself too.

Errands to run today and then some chores. Not sure what to expect for Halloween since they are predicting some rain. Hope the kids get their trick or treating in before that happens.

I am contemplating running an inventory reduction sale. I have got to move some of this stuff. With our other house not selling, money is getting a wee bit tight. I may even close my other shop. Even though it's so little money to keep it open, every little bit will help.

Have a good Halloween everyone. Time to go get stuff done.

HAF Hook Up! / Any Hoosiers here?

Since we have moved back to Indiana, I was wondering if there are any Hoosiers here?  I am in Noblesville. It would be cool to meet some other HAS people!

Came here way back in 2009! It's a special place that's for sure.

I was just re-reading this thread and it is a good reminder that we should always be respectful of other peoples craft whether we like it or not. Being mean and hurtful is just that, mean and hurtful.

General Discussion / Re: Business Card Holders

I have some plastic ones that I got years ago from some office supply store. The other one I use is actually made from a stone. It has a felt bottom and a groove cut into it for the cards. It holds about 15 cards a a time. I had them at my store. The girl who made them just disappeared after the death of her husband. Maybe River Rock Arts can make one for you.

Every time I check in here it feels like a marathon! SO much to do by all including me! I do enjoy reading about what the group is up too.

Trying to start promoting my shops a bit more. I have to admit that I enjoyed the break from all that with the move. I'm still really wondering about trying to continue  but will in the mean time. Working on projects around the house and thinking about what to do since we still have not sold our NC house yet. Most likely if it doesn't go, we will rent it out. We have a good friend there who has a rental property and loves the company she uses to get renters. They have had good ones who don't destroy the place. Maybe we'll go the rent to own route. After a year of rental, we will do some other updates to the place and put it back on the market. We still have 2 months in our current contract so maybe we will sell yet.

We are going to be visiting a boarding kennel today since we will need a place for our girls to go when we are out of town. Next month we have our daughter's graduation and plan to make a weekend out of that in Chicago.  We will also have her wedding in March.
Well, it's time to go for my daily walk, so will say bye for now. Have a good one!

Ooo, Battery Park! nice place to have a gig Larissa! I hope it's very successful for you and your friend.

We spent the weekend in Momence, IL visiting my in laws and our kids. It was so great to see everyone, especially our granddaughter! She's only 3 but looks like a 5 year old because she's so tall.

Fall is in full swing here. Leaves are turning, days and nights are cooler. We are loving it! I'm getting on with painting projects this week. Hubby will be going back to NC to touch up the house there this coming weekend.

Lots to do, so I'll go for now. I did open my shops again too. Time to really promote now!

It was a bit gloomy in IL over the weekend, and quite windy. I do hope that all are safe especially in SC that has been hit so hard lately!

I haven't been around much lately either. Busy with house stuff. I'll just say that I wish for good health for all, many sales, and all that good stuff. We are going to visit my in laws this weekend. That will be a nice break for us. When we get back, I am going to re-open my shops. Maybe have a grand re-opening sale or something. I have to unload some of this stuff.

Fall has certainly arrived. Below average temps and windy. Lady is loving it but Farrah not so much. Farrah has always lived in NC, so this could be a bit tough for her. The coat I bought for her from here may not be enough. Just might have to break out the sewing machine and make her a warmer one.  Maybe I'll make one for Lady too.

Keep up the weight watchers Larissa. So far I have dropped 65 lbs doing that and walking everyday. Get yourself a cookbook too. Makes a big difference! In fact, I made Beef and Bean Chili for dinner yesterday . It's one of our very favorite recipes and so quick to make.

Have a great weekend everyone and I'll see you on Monday!

Prayers and all good healing vibes are coming to Joe Ms Marty and also to Monika!

I won't bore you with details, but I've been painting more. Today was laundry and clean the house day. Slowly but surely it is looking and feeling like OUR home.

I'll see you when I see you.
