I want to start making some personalized bangles and have an inquiry from a customer who says her hand size is 10 inches in circumference (I gave her directions on how to measure her hand for a bangle, which I found on the web).  Do I make the length of the wire 10" to fit over the widest part of her hand or should I make it just short of 10 so it will fit a little more snugly?  I can't find any info on the net on how to determine the correct length of wire for each bangle size (XS, S, M, L, EXL) and would be grateful if anyone here has some knowledge or can point me in the right direction.

Site Support / [COMMUNITY] Highlights and How Best to Use the Forum

Sorry if this has already been asked but I'm a newbie and am wondering what the rules are for creating highlights...can you feature your own products or is it restricted to others only?  And what is the best way to use the forum to promote one's shop?  Is there another place to go to get guidance on these and other forum questions?  Thanks in advance for your answers!

Hello, folks.  I'm Martha from Urban Jule.  I just recently joined Handmade Artists and am in the slow process of setting up my shop.  I love that there is such a friendly forum here!

A little bit about me: I've read a few of the posts here (couldn't concentrate on all 157 pages) and had to LOL at some of the comments about ADD.  I am actually formally diagnosed with adult ADD and I think a lot of creative people probably are.  I've been artistically inclined since I was a wee child.  From coloring outside the lines to, well, to a lot of things.  Most recently, I opened up a shop on Etsy about a year and a half ago.  My first shop was called "Martha's Many Things" because I had a variety of creative endeavors listed there:  jewelry, painted glass, fiber arts.  I was all over the map!  I finally settled down to just listing jewelry and even at that, I can't stop myself from trying a myriad of different things within the realm of that broad classification:  wire work, metal work, chainmaille.  I love it all.  My shop there and here is now Urban Jule.  The urban dictionary defines "Jule" as "Quirky.  Does things out of the ordinary."; so the shop name was a little play on words.

I'm self taught (except for a stint at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC) and have started this new career of mine late in life (I'm an old hippie).  Many things have happened in my life to bring me to this point.  Some good; some not so good but I figure everything happens for a reason.

It has only been in the last year that I have been placed in the position of being alone and supporting myself and my dream is to make a living off of my art.  Not get rich, not even a middle class wage...just enough to pay some basic bills, put food in my belly, and be able to continue to create.

I'm a little techno-challenged so I'm still trying to find my way around this site and the forum.  Still haven't figured out where in my profile I go to enter in other web sites where I can be found (like Etsy, Facebook, Twitter, etc.), so if anyone has some real specific instructions on how to do that, I would greatly appreciate it.

Looking forward to getting to know you all! 8)
