Thank you all, appreciate the comments &
Teresa, Thanks for the animal expertise... I think I will go with Elk.  The face looked a little broad to me for a deer.

Creative Creations / Re: Miniature Rag Doll - Ornament
« on: February 28, 2012, 11:41:04 PM »
One of my customers mentioned when I was talking to her about the custom rag doll I finished a couple of weeks ago that she would be interested in my dolls for Christmas tree ornaments.  "Good grief," I thought.  "How on earth can I make a doll that small?"

Well, I've been working on it and the third one I made is now for sale in my shop.  She's not even 4 inches tall!  The first two that I made were definitely works in progress.  But this one is cute enough that I listed her and had to share.  This is a picture of her in my left hand.  Just to give you some gauge, my wedding rind on that hand is size 5.

Cute - might it work to promote them for dollhouses as well?

I just finished this and haven't posted it yet.  I think I really like it.  I'm calling it Look Back In Time.  It is another Steampunk piece.  I have to decide what the chain will look like and what kind of link I will use for it to hang from the chain.  I don't think I want a plain ring.  Will welcome any suggestions of something that has a vintage look.

I don't mean that branding should make one's things expensive.  It does, however, help people to see value.  In our society, like it or not, people pay for perceived exclusivity.
I also make things because I love doing it.  But, I do want to make a living doing it.  By making a living, I mean supporting myself, rent, food, insurance, etc., so I do include an hourly wage.  I must admit that I resent competing for sales with people who do it as a hobby and support themselves through another occupation or a spouse's income.  As with other work that I have done, I would not want to compete for a job with someone who does not care about making a living doing the job.  To me, that represents unfair competition.  It is not that different from American workers having to compete with workers in third world countries where hourly wages are a pittance.  I think one must put it in that context because it is a realistic context.

I like your things, you might want to post some pix on the forum to make it easier for people to see your work.
