Site Support / Re: Renew for Another Year?
« on: May 31, 2016, 07:16:55 AM »
I took a break.  I am hoping my shop is archived so I could come back later.  I need to rethink what will sell better.  The wedding items are just a subset of what I embroider.  Maybe something else will work better.

Do I retain my shop identity if I can come back?

Site Support / Renew for Another Year?
« on: May 30, 2016, 10:21:10 AM »
I just got my renewal notice for another year.

I am successful on my regular site, Etsy and Amazon Handmade -- not so much here.

Can someone update me on the future of this site?  What improvements, general advertising and such are in the works?  My sense is that shoppers do not know this site even exists.    I need to decide whether to stay.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

okay -- I got you both

Debbie  - I just followed you.  You will get a red notification top right on crafter's lounge and it is easy to follow back.  I will see if I can find any others here

I recently found out about crafters lounge.  It is a site that functions like pinterest, but is solely for handmade items.  You can pin items from here or from any site.    It is free - making its money from ads.  I have signed up and have started adding pins.  It is easy to use.  Check it out!

Site Support / Re: Tales from the First Sale - And Site Suggestion

If things ever get busy here for me, I would love to have the association of the instructions from seller connected to the order itself.  I would worry that a separate email could be either missed or assigned to the wrong order.

I know -- a nice problem to have!

Still, a gal can hope.  I do have trouble keeping track of my etsy orders when the info from the seller is not part of the order itself.

Exciting news that the site will be updated.  I am eager to see what is included.

I have more listings to add, but it would be a huge job to do it manually.  Is it possible to upload an etsy export file?  I just can't remember from when I first did the listings here.

Thanks,

Peg

Handmade Highlights / Re: Handmade Wedding

That's my niche since I do custom embroidered wedding gown labels - personalized wedding treasures for not much money.  And the wedding photographers love to get photos during the getting ready for the wedding pictures.

Handmade Highlights / Peek vs. Peak

Topic headline should be peek rather than peak --- just sayin...  ;)

Thanks for the help everyone. All is good for the order.

I also hear that a messaging system is part of the plan for the site.  For customized items, it sure is needed.

This is the consignment shop that buys the wedding gown labels from me for their brides.  I suspect there are shops like this in just about every town.

I am sure the redo is doable - but likely expensive between the alteration and the dye.

If you really want to sell it, I would approach the various clearing houses for wedding gowns.  There is one that gets wedding labels from me so that the brides have something special.  And I am sure there are others too.

Also -- did you try Craig's List?

I am happy to get my first sale from handmade artists -- but it has not been completely smooth sailing (or saling? :P !)

The item purchased is personalized and the customer did not know how to tell me the info I needed at time of sale to do the personalization.  So she just purchased it and hoped everything would somehow work out.

I emailed her numerous time and finally resorted to sending her a postcard with my contact info to try to get her attention.  She finally contacted me and we have the details worked out.

When the site is updated, perhaps a "message to seller" field could be added to cover situations like this.  It would save a lot of time and angst.
