Title: Symbolism Doll
Post by: Jeanne on April 19, 2009, 02:13:35 PM
I make beaded dolls.  The Yahoo group I belong to held a 6 week class on symbolism with the end result being a doll full of symbolism.  The enclosed picture is what I created.  Lot of the symbolism relates to headaches I have had for 11 years. The doll's name is Catharsis.  You may read more about the doll here:

How beautiful!  Shows a lot of heart and soul that you put into them.

Thank you for looking at Cartharsis.  I have fun with my other dolls, but this one is special.  Right now I am working on a screwdriver doll to go with my wrench doll.  Doing a whole series of tools.

Again, thanks,
Jeanne

Let us know when you get to a "Pliers" doll...you might find that chainmaillers tend to go a bit nuts over pliers.

Lol...that's on my list.  Maybe I could design a special one for all chainmaillers.  Which plier do you think would lend itself to being a doll?

The lyndstrom ergonomic of course, I would show you one but my wife won't let me touch her pliers.

Wow. I just got the 'gift' of headaches after a semi wreck in December. I've been trying to stay chin-up about it and hope that the mass of doctors now involved will be able to do something. Not quite through the specialist list yet.

Now I think I better get to work on my own doll.

On the serious side... can you drag US through the sybolism doll lessons?

First - make sure you see an orthopedic/neurologist specializing in surgery.  I spent 11 years in pain from the headaches until I finally went to the orthopedist.  He removed the discs between C4 and C6 which took the DAILY headaches away.  I went to every neurologist and clinic imaginable.  They diagnosed me with chronic daily migraines.  It was discs bulging on nerves.

Second - If you are asking me to take you through a symbolism class, I can't.  We were asked not to share the info because the person teaching it was writing a book.  There is a lot of information on the web though.  You might want to do a search on it.  Sorry.  Start with info on Chakras.

Thank you.  I love how it turned out, but it took a long, long time to come together.

Those are great-I'm thinking making one would also be a great form of 'therapy' for those who may need it!

Oh yes! I was thinking of the therapy as well after reading the description of creation. It would.

Therapy doll, instead of symbolism doll?  Could be.  Some dolls are created because of traumatic events.

Thanks for liking her.

This doll is just amazing - that face says it all- and the details are defined even more with all the other symbols.  Incredible work Jeanne!!!!

I have a lot of beads hanging around mmmmmmmmmm mmmm maybe   I've always wanted to make at least one doll in this life time.

I am sorry, Kris.  I missed your post.  Thank you for your comments.  The mirror on the back as a face is used so that everyone can see themselves through the pain.   :)

I am glad she speaks to you.
