how to call myself?
« on: January 23, 2014, 07:31:57 PM »
I have a bunch of illustrations that were made from my photos on commission by several freelance artists. Now, if I want to sell some of them, or sell prints from them or maybe to participate in an exhibition. How what would I call myself? owner of the painting? co-author? anything else?

Thank you

you would be selling a print of xxxxx'x work.  Even if you paid for it the other person is the artist who made it.  Did your contract with that artist include release of intellectual property?  You may own the original, but not the rights to distribute copies.  You probably should consult a knowledgeable attorney before proceeding with selling these.

Yes, I was thinking about this before starting this. I have a work for hire agreement and all the right, including for commercial and any other possible use.
