Thank you for the compliment! I've tried Google Ads but I found myself spending a fortune but no sales! I guess what works for one may not necessarily work for another.  That's great that most of your sales come from online orders.  No, i've not done any shows/parties myself although I'm realizing I'm going to have to though and kick my shyness aside!

I find that they can be expensive, so i lower my cpc bids really low. It does mean i am not at the top, but i find it still works to bring in people who are interested and still searching for the right gift, as opposed to the quick clickers who bounce all over. Though it really helps refining the ads, i am still no pro but hubby helps a lot to keep refining them. At first they cost a load and had no sales, but we were both very new to google adwords.

I am quite similar to you in that respect, i am too shy and not a big fan of jumping into a room with a load of people. Though i know it has to be done, but i wont do it alone without hubby (yet) lol.

To be honest without him, i would be still making cards in my spare time as a hobby. He has made everything digital work for me, still not quite enough for me to make cards all full time but i am getting (almost) there...

Hello - I am Hollie from Handmade With Love. This is a business that I share with my childhood friend Michele.

I have been making jewelry for about 5 years and Michele has been making it for about 2. We mostly bead - but tinker with other materials every now and then.

We started our business about 18 months ago and we have been focusing on craft fairs and other community events. We have been doing shows in Northen Nevada and California. We also do home shows and have an online store at our website (www.handmadewithlove-reno.com).

Our online sales have not been quite what we were hoping. We've tried listing on Etsy and Artfire but haven't had any momentum. Just this week, I posted a ton of stuff on Yardsellr.com - which is great because there are no fees to the seller - and we've had increased traffic to our site and we've also made some sales directly from the Yardsale.

We are excited to be on this forum and to learn from all of you and share our experiences too!

Hi athenianjewels.

Like the style of your site, but i my only critique would be that it felt like i was looking for a holiday, instead of jewellery. Personally i would change the pictures used in the carousel/page headers to some of your jewellery (maybe) displayed on the rocks, a macro shot closeup and have the blurred backgrounds of those gorgeous Greek views.

It would look fantastic and really give off the right vibe and the focus would remain on your jewellery. :)

Hi everybody,

My name is Gaby and I love everything crafty. I enjoy making things with clay. For a while however I stopped being creative.
Then at the start of 2011 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and realized that life should be lived and not postponed. During chemo my hands were numb and in pain. I wanted to find a way to help and heal myself not only my body but my soul and mind as well. I started playing with kids clay and noticed that my achy hands were actually feeling better. My mind was relaxed and I was able to concentrate only on what I was doing.  I've stuck with it ever since. I feel it's my therapy. I've come to realize that I cannot control anything in my life however if I do something that puts a smile on a person's face, I feel happy. That happy feeling is priceless. My gratitude goes out to the people that have supported me and enjoyed my creatures.

Now I use air dry clay, paper clay and polymer clay. I make charms, earrings, key chains, picture holders etc.

I don't have an etsy chop yet but I hope to open one soon.

I'm also having a free giveaway of a kitty picture holder that I made from air dry clay. Follow me on my blog for a chance to win it.

Hope to see you there.  :-*

Welcome, your blue poodle is so adorable.  Have you thought about opening your shop in the Handmade Artists' Shop?  I have found it quite easy to manage.

I love working with felt, it's so relaxing. I will also appriciate if someone can give me information on handmade festivals and fairs that take place in Europe. Thank you!

Hi All!

I just found this forum today and I am already in love!   :-*

Basically my husband runs the wood lathe and I run the computer.  He makes beautiful bowls, pepper mills, spirit and bottle toppers, stoppers and pours, vessels, spoons and trinket boxes.  He is very talented and patient so wood turning is a perfect match for him.

We've been very lucky as far as being accepted into local fairs and shows.  Our ETSY store has been pretty successful too considering we just started selling items a couple of months ago.

I'm going to poke my way around here and get used to the set up.  I look forward to participating in this forum.
