new silk, new way to photograph
« on: June 11, 2012, 12:16:53 PM »
A few new silk pieces...I have been re-vamping many aspects of Dragonfly Dawn Silks. From completely tearing apart my studio and rearranging, to dumping my webpage server and starting over with a new one, to arguing with my "repaired" sewing machine and finally giving in and buying a new one!

Amidst all the hullabaloo...a few new colorways in veils. I like the way these photos came out, so will be using this technique and retaking all the photos!

Great way to do the photos!  I love the flowy silk out in nature like that.

Love the silk, of course, the that is a great way to show them off.  The blowing in the breeze makes them feel so airy!

thank you all for the feedback...I am so pleased with these pictures..far and above the others. The natural daylight with no sun glare helps so much. I quite like the draping also, as if it is being worn as a shawl over the arms. Now to run all the others through the mangle again and do a marathon photo session with them all.

I am also exploring alternative shots for each one...folded and bowed, casually crumpled on a blanket, pinned up on a line..maybe. We'll see.  ;)

I love it! That tree is perfect!  Cloudy days can be a good thing when you are trying to get pics of shiny things!
Went back to read your other post!

A lot of people around here in NM have umbrella's for the same reason - keep the sun off!

maybe in some shade.   I especailly like cloudy days for taking pics of my ornaments.  Not super dark cloudy days, but enough to cut down on the glare from the sun.

Beautiful work!  Lovely colors and your photos really pop.  Blowing in the breeze is a really nice touch, too.

Having the breeze like that really gives them movement, almost like you could touch them. Beautiful!!
