I will agree with you about the willow trees.  When I was a kid, we had several in the back acre or two and they were extremely beautiful, especially in the wind.  Your image just made my day.

Kris, they are Acrylic and inks, mostly acrylics. I love working with acrylics they do dry fast and I can add layers sooner. If I want it wet longer I mist with water from a spray bottle.
I love oils too, just haven't played there in a while. I bought new paints in oils to get back to that medium, so you can expect those in a few weeks:) I have done charcoal drawing too and enjoyed that.
So many fun things to do, never enough time!

The pastels can be sealed to preserve them, probably the same spray I use on my acrylics,it is clear acrylic spray in either Matte or Satin, I change depending on the piece.

I have never had art lessons, I am self taught, but watercolors scare me so I plan to take a beginners work shop in the fall. If it works for me, I can go on alone if I get some simple basic techniques.( I may be over confident:)

hehehe watercolors are a whole different ball game than acrylics or oils!!!

Yeah, I've tried all the tricks with acrylics - but for the way I paint, they just don't work as well as oils do.  The extender is like glop! icky stuff.

My oil paintings rarely come out the same way they are started - but that's not the case when it comes to watercolors -
I've tried the spray with the soft pastels, - and sent a 18 x 24 drawing/painting to my sister - thought I had it packed so it wouldn't get mesed up - but I had to tell her how to reblend parts of it after she got it.
