Yeah, I love the sock yarns, but won't go near them  Wish I could find something in that weight that isn't wool.  Anybody know of anything?
I can do some alpaca blends if I work on them for short periods, and not every day, but I also have to watch what else I've come in contact with that I'm allergic to.
Gina - I feel for your friend, I know all about those hives!  I used to be able to wear wool, and then one day I broke out from head to toe and they even went inside my mouth!
Larissa - Yep, I had a beautiful sweater from Canada that had to go to a new home!
lo my ex had a nice collection of wool overshirts - He still wore them, he just didn't get a hug goodbye in the morning if he had one on.

I'm not sure how the weight compares, but Lion Brand's cotton bamboo is pretty fine.  Maybe take a look at that?  FYI, I bought myself some bamboo rayon socks I saw at Kohl's (couldn't resist when I saw what they were made of), and they may have become my second favorite socks.  My first favorite are the ones I got from Dahlish.   ;D

Aww thanks Larissa!  :)

I've used KnitPicks (http://www.knitpicks.com) for a lot of yarn (including I believe the yarn for your socks Larissa!).  Their cotton yarn is great, I really like the linen/cotton blend...They have some great stuff that isn't cotton and in all weights (lace, fingering, DK, worsted, bulky, etc).

All of Lion Brands are #4, except the cotton Bamboo is a 3.  However I'm looking for something besided cotton, but after what you said about the socks, I may just try it!

I did find some acrylic #2 which may work pretty good at Premiere Yarns & they have some really nice pattern yarns.

Dahlish - (ah I'm sorry I cannot remember your name unless someone nearby has used it! ) I just bookmarked the knitpicks to check out later.  Thanks
See that is one of the things I love this about this place.
