Basket Weave Washcloth
« on: May 08, 2012, 12:43:58 AM »

So I tried a different pattern... basket weave with a seed stitch border.  Eric likes it so much he wants to do "quality control testing."  Joke's on him, 'cause it's in the shop.

Terrific Larissa… I like the shade of yellow you chose, like a butter cup color… summery, very nice!

Yummy!  You will just have to make him one after you finish his scarf!

Very cool Larissa!
isn't it amazing what you can do with just variations with a purl stitch & a knit stitch?
I have this awesome book I inhereted from my ex-mil "A Treasury of Knitting Patterns" by Barbar G. Walker.  I'm pretty sure it's out of print, but maybe a used book store might have one - or someone  on amazon.

Kris, it really is!  Eric got me this one a while back:

And it's got a TON of different stitch patterns in it... I want to try them ALL.  And washcloths & scarves are such a great way to practice them.

Kim, if he wants one he can make it himself!  These suckers need to go in the shop.  We have a deal; once I have 10 washcloths made, I get to make a purchase to put together a new gift back idea I have for Reef Botanicals.  So I need to build stock.  2 down, 8 to go!

Can't wait to see what else you come up with...and who knows, maybe E will take up knitting!  When Andrew and I had Spencer, I made a cross stitch quilt wall hanging for his room; not to be outdone, Andrew cross stitched Spencer's Christmas stocking!

Couples that create together stay together; make a mess together, get cut/burned together and just generally have fun!

Larissa, how sweet of Eric to get that for you!

Kimberly - Cross stitch- I used to love to cross stitch.  Andrew did a stocking? That's awesome!  I did one in cross stich for my grandson about 12 years ago, took me  a while to do it.

Larissa, yeah, teach Eric to knit!lo there sre some men out there that are great knitters.

When my sister went to the sheep shearing festival she told me there was a guy there knitting & apparently it's very hipster.

I'd love it if E took up knitting, but it's not his thing.  Maybe when I've got enough to sell, I'll do him another.

Man you are just running through different weaves, congrats! Does that mean you are going to start putting together baskets with handmade soap, and hand knit wash cloths?
Your welcome for the idea, yes it is true, I'm a genius.

Anybody remember when the football player Rosie Grier(sp?) was showing off his mad crochet skills? Late 70's I believe.
