polymer clay cane
eryka91:
Hi, this year is the year of polymer clay, and I am making great progress. The area I need help with is canes with black. I create a cane with colours outlined in black, however when I reduces all I get is a black mud not crisp lines like I see on line.

Wish I could help, but my work with clay is along the lines of kindergarten ability! Would love to see some pictures of what you have done so far.
Haffina:
Make sure the clay you use is a firm clay and not really soft. The softer the clay the more like the clay with 'merge' as you reduce. Also make sure that all the clay is of a similar consistency. Having a firm clay and a soft clay in the same cane will lead to issues.
Make sure the 'lines' are fairly thin to begin with. Black is an overpowering colour and if your lines are too thick to start with then it will take over.
